Best high school game you've seen.

What is the best high school game you have attended? What made it great?

These were when st ansgar was class 1a.

Best I recall would be 2002 St. Ansgar vs Wapsie Valley. At the time St. Ansgar was starting to field a great team and one of head coach clevenger's earlier seasons. Back and forth game with St. Ansgar scoring two fourth quarter touchdowns, scored the first, then forced a quick 3 and out and scored the second very late in the game to take the lead. Wapsie Valley completed a long pass on the game's final play but was tackled before they reached the endzone. The complete game is on youtube. Login to view embedded media
Another great one would be the quarterfinal game between st ansgar and aplington parkersburg I think it was 2011. St ansgar looked like they scored a touchdown to take a two score lead late in the fourth but a fumble was ruled and AP recovered. Drive starting at the 1 yard line AP was marching down the field looking like they would score and win the game, but St Ansgar forced a fumble at about the 20 and recovered to seal the victory.

Almost Time

Less than 24 hours until week 9 games get underway and we take the final step in figuring out who will be in the playoffs.

It’s been a great regular season and it’s been fun communicating on here. Things have remained fairly steady when it comes to the posts on this board and it’s been good banter. I’m just glad the message board hasn’t been a ghost town.

Thanks for the thoughts, ideas, and opinions. Looking forward to week 9 and the postseason. Keep up the chatter.

Week 7 Top 10 Rankings

Here are my top 10 rankings heading into week 7

1. Dike-New Hartford (6-0)
2. Van Meter (6-0)
3. West Lyon (6-0)
4. Western Christian (6-0)
5. West Sioux (5-1)
6. South Central Calhoun (6-0)
7. West Branch (6-0)
8. Treynor (6-0)
9. Sigourney-Keota (6-0)
10. Regina, Iowa City (5-1)

Looking in: Panorama (6-0), Mount Ayr (5-1), Underwood (5-1), North Linn (5-1), Mediapolis (5-1), ACGC (5-1)

Every team is the top 10 remains the same, but there was a bit of a shift due to Western getting a huge win. They move up from 7 to 4, just ahead of West Sioux which fell from 1 to 5. This puts three teams from district 1 in the top 10. I firmly believe all three teams will make the playoffs and deservedly so.

Treynor held off Underwood and will claim the district title. Underwood should have just the one loss to claim an at-large spot in the playoffs.

Regina and DNH keep moving along as they’re once again in a collision course for the district title in week 9.

West Sioux will have to regroup quick as they will host West Lyon next week.

RPI rankings will come out this weekend for the first time. Should be interesting where teams land after two weeks of district play.

How are the teams looking this year?

DMC will be down this year. Zimmer and Anderson are finally graduated after what seems like years and years of having to watch them play (they were good but glad to see them go)! I don't think they have much left after those two do they?

Panorama will be tough as always. I dont know much about who they have coming up, but best coach in the conference so they will always be tough.

Van Meter will be a team to watch!

Any other ideas out there.
