Who Is Switching Classes Next Cycle?

Going with these changes that I am pretty sure will happen
1. DSM Hoover combining with DSM Roosevelt
2. Saint Albert not having Heartland Christian
3. Central Lee dropping Holy Trinity, and Holy Trinity probably going with Burlington

Here is what I have for districts

4A
District 1
Denison Schleswig
Le Mars
SC West
Sergeant Bluff Luton
Storm Lake
Spencer

District 2
Mason City
Fort Dodge
Boone
Gilbert
Ballard
North Polk

District 3
Decorah
Waverly Shell Rock
Waterloo East
Marion
CR Washington
Xavier

District 4
Western Dubuque
North Scott
Clinton
Davenport North
Davenport West
Burlington

District 5
CCA
Williamsburg
Pella
Oskaloosa
Newton
Bondurant Farrar

District 6
Carlisle
DSM North
ADM
Glenwood
CB TJ
Lewis Central

So when you map out 4A, you could send Denison to the 3 Council Bluffs area schools, and then Fort Dodge west, and the probably Mason City east, but I like the way I have this, Western Dubuque to Burlington is a trip not no farther than Western Dubuque to Mason City. Then I also tried to and you'll see this in every class have 2 of what I see as the top teams in each district, which other than the NW district I think I did.

3A

District 1
Heelan
Sioux Center
MOC FV
Harlan
Carroll
Greene County

District 2
Algona
Humboldt
Webster City
Clear Lake
Iowa Falls Alden
Charles City

District 3
Independence
West Delaware
Wahlert
Maquoketa
Central De Witt
Assumption

District 4
Solon
Washington
Fairfield
Mount Pleasant
Fort Madison
Keokuk

District 5
Mount Vernon
Benton
CPU
Nevada
Grinnell
Knoxville

District 6
Saydel
Des Moines Christian
Creston
Winterset
Atlantic
Perry

I think the big question is who they send to play the 3 far NW Iowa schools, to me this makes the most sense but they could send Humboldt, Algona, and Webster City, which would have an impact of the eastern half of the state.

2A

District 1
Central Lyon GLR

District 2

West Burlington ND

District 8
Clarinda

Albia

Few things
Clarinda is on an island like Decorah, sending them with those schools makes the most sense. The two NW district are tough, but that is how it is always going to be, with CGD and GHV going down it is tough to send Forest City west to the great lakes when there aren't enough schools for 6 teams, so you kind of end up sending Kuemper, OABCIG and SE Valley north. The map is a lot cleaner on the eastern half if Central Lee was in 3A, but I ended up trying to spread out the better teams.

1A

District 1

District 7

District 8
West Central Valley

Probably the easiest map to place teams for me, West Lyon is actually kind of on an island, but all the teams they are playing make sense, there are also 5 SW teams, but WCV being right on I80 made the most sense to send them out west. And then there are 3 places that Grundy and South Hardin could land, but I think if you are trying to balance districts where I sent them makes the most sense.

A

District 1
West Sioux

Nodaway Valley
Southwest Valley
IKM Manning
AHSTW

District 8
Riverside
Saint Albert

LoMa

This is the toughest one to do because I am unsure of a few teams and whether they might be in 8 man, first off district 1 is nice and tidy, district 2 I would like to split West Hancock and Saint Ansgar but I don't see an easy way to do it. District 3 is a little bit of a mix and match, but I think Wapsie and NP will be good and East Buc while down last year should rebound so it makes sense in my head. District 4 I would like to put in one more of what I see as a top 15-20 team but I don't think South Winn and Starmont won't be too bad to go along with Maquoketa Valley. District 5 I sent North Linn all the way south because I had a coach tell me that he thought that this would happen just because other than Pekin that district is terrible and they kind of replace Lisbon. District 6 is kind of like district 4 with Madrid and some very average teams, although I switched Mount Ayr and MSTM to try and bring some balance. District 7 I made that switch with AC/GC, Earlham, and AHSTW that is a pretty solid district. District 8 will always be lead by Woodbury Central, but LoMa, Saint Albert and Riverside can all be tough.

I am in no way saying that these are perfect or what they will be, but mapping it out and trying to maintain some balance this is what I came up with.

I didn't get to 8 man yet I will work on that.
Class A-If you wanted to split Ansgar and West Hancock it would take a little creativity but would balance out districts. Also moved Wapsie

My idea for this reef...

... is to load this up (when they're ready to tug it out to to its final resting place) with all the most heinous, repeat/unredeemable prisoners in our prisons on death row (or not yet) and let the Navy & Air Force use it for target practice. Wouldn't that make a REALLY great reef if it is already stocked with fresh meat?

Would like to require the 'less deadly' prisoners, people in jail, or whoever else wants to, watch what their future is should they continue down the path. THEN... since we now have 1/2 empty prisons everywhere, sent all of the remaining ones to the most secure prisons. NOW we have a lot of empty prisons that are already set up to house & feed people (and entertain, workout facilities, etc...)... it's a built in spot for the disabled, elderly, or others who truly need a hand up. Even the street rats (formerly know as 'homeless') get to come in for a short period of time to get their act together and/or they get a ticket on the next ship leaving port for another reef. I know... it's a perfect, beautiful plan!

Follow me @derek_tiger for more ideas to clean up our culture...

Bon Voyage SS United States

The SS United States, a historic 990-foot ocean liner, has begun its final journey from Philadelphia to become the world's largest artificial reef off Florida's Gulf Coast.

Tugboats are guiding the largest passenger ship built in America, nicknamed "the Big U," to Mobile, Alabama, where the crew will remove hazardous materials, including fuel. The process will take at least a year. The ship—more than 100 feet longer than the Titanic—will then continue its journey before resting roughly 180 feet underwater and 20 miles off the coast of Okaloosa County, Florida. The ship will sit upright on the seafloor, becoming a habitat for marine life. The voyage follows a legal battle and decades of decay while the vessel has been anchored in Philadelphia since 1996.

The SS United States ferried four US presidents and hosted numerous celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Marlon Brando, and Grace Kelly. It set transatlantic speed records and completed roughly 800 crossings until its retirement in 1969 as air travel took off. See its history here. Explore the ship here (w/video).

Not recommended

I was thinking of Fort Meade. Fort Pierce was actually a decent drive for us. We use to hangout near Sebastian Inlet and Indian River.

Bradley Junction was hilariously ridiculous too. A lot of phosphate mining in that area.
Yeh a large majority of Polk County is not great. Used to have to go down to Frostproof a couple times a year, as it is where Lowe’s Florida distribution center was. Thankfully I was living in Winter Park at the time and could make it a day trip. We were the asphalt division of Quikrete, so I frequented their plant in Lakeland. Lakeland was ok, but it wouldn’t break my heart if I never had to get out of the truck in Polk County ever again. I covered AL, GA, and FL and Polk County was by far my least favorite place to visit, even if it meant I could commute from the house…

Who Is Switching Classes Next Cycle?

So I did the maps with Central Lee in 3A first, but then when I read that if they were bumped to 3A by Holy Trinity then the agreement was off I moved them down and IFA up. Without IFA in 3A there are no longer 6 schools around the Mason City area so I sent 3 of them west to the NW schools, and Charles City and Clear Lake east, but that is also a long drive for those schools.

Atlantic (instead of Greene County) and Perry (instead of Harlan) could also be in the running for schools to join those 3 NW schools, if it is teams from more of the SW part of the state.

Coaching Openings

Proximity to Iowa City may help, but I wonder where the coach at West Branch will find 8-9 quality candidates to build a whole new staff. I know where I'm at (southeast Iowa) filling 1-2 spots in an offseason can be a challenge due to lack of candidates.
Agreed, I kinda of thought the same thing. I do think the proximity to Iowa City will help along with his ties to the Iowa Football program (his son is a CB)

Is the barn ready?

And poor, stupid bama lost. 👏
Now just wait a damn minute sir.

You want to throw some turds at your rival, the Tide, that’s fine. It’s what this board is all about.

Using the same phrase that is often directed at sorry sacks of water like @Menace Sockeyes ia a different thing! Lots of ways to talk shit about dirty ol bammer without that!

Coaching Openings

They are in a bit of disarray right now. The seniors are very connected to the outgoing coaching staff. Thats tough on any 16 yr old, losing a coach. Let alone 8-9 of them.

The smoke will clear and they will get to work. With WB probably moving up to 2A this year, it will be an interesting change. They'll drop back down on next cycle as enrollment numbers are smaller from 8th grade and down.
Ultimately it is the kids that suffer. How you just abandon what made the program great doesn’t make sense. What a great building block of hardworking kids. Will be interesting

Best Beginner Tennis Racket for Control and Comfort?

Hey everyone,

I'm just getting into tennis and looking for a good beginner-friendly racket.

I want something comfortable to use, offers decent control, and won’t be too harsh on my arm.

I’ve heard lighter rackets with larger head sizes are good for beginners, but I also don’t want something too bulky.

Are there any specific models you’d recommend for a mix of control beginner tennis racket, power, and comfort?

Also, should I focus on string tension or grip size when choosing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for any help
