Was just reading a P-C article about growth in the CCA district and found this:

"The high school will need its next addition by the 2021-2022 school to accommodate a student enrollment of more than 900 students."

I don't know what they're at now and didn't bother to look but there's another 4A team coming quickly so where does CCA fit into the grand scheme of things once they reach that number? How does it affect district alignment? Liberty will be at a full four grades by then, too.

I think that you will basically have a 4A District centered in Iowa City in a few years. Solon will be 4A as well, add in new Iowa City high school and you have most of a district. Just a lot of people moving into the larger cities in iowa.

It really depends if the state decides to make all schools over a 700 BEDS count 4A or if they just take the top 48, if there's more than that many.

If CCA is to reach 900, and a BEDS count of 700-ish by then, they'll have to count on N. Liberty growing toward 380 rather than south toward Coralville, etc.
Solon's BEDS count in 14-15 was 315 and right now, it sits at 323. CCA's BEDS numbers from the same period are: 437 and 445, respectively.
Waukee is the obvious outlier and Johnston and Linn-Mar would be the next two that could possibly add that many students by then.
CCA in 4A by then...maybe. Solon...better start some annexation in the unincorporated areas.

Wow! I clearly do not know what is Solon and is not Solon. Every time I drive down that road all I think about is "dang there are another 10 houses here!" Obviously what I think of as greater Solon is not, in fact, Solon. I never drive around CCA so I can't really comment on that area. But still..... Ok, somewhere in the greater Iowa City metro area a bunch of kids living north or Iowa City are going to go to school.
