The state has posted preliminary classifications for football for the 2016-17 cycle. It's official: Western Dubuque and Newton are moving to 4A for the next two seasons, to round out the class at 48 teams.
Having Iowa City Liberty delay their varsity program until 2018 certainly helped out with that. Also I guess Newton's projections were just a tad ahead of Norwalk's.
