Q&A with Regina quarterback Gentry Dumont

How did the high school football season go overall?
“The season was a bit disappointing because it didn’t live up to the Regina standards. We dealt with a lot of injuries and by the end of the year we were starting 11 underclassmen on offense and 7 on defense. We had four new starters on the offensive line and all 5 were underclassmen. So after some early season struggles the season went on and they were giving me a good amount of time to connect with my receivers.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“I’ve been doing lifts twice a day since football season has ended and have put on around 22 pounds so far. I’m heading to several football camps with my dad before I run track this spring. This summer will be a full football camp schedule and I’ve been working with Tony Racioppi out in New Jersey so I’ll head out there a couple times in the summer to work out with him again.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“We were really young this year so we should improve quite a bit from this past season. Being a smaller school we just have to keep everyone healthy and if we do that I think we can make a pretty good run next year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“The state will redo the schedules every 2 years and this is one of those years so we don’t have our schedule yet but we are likely to stay in 1A for district play. We always try to schedule larger schools for our non-district play and my guess is that will happen again next year.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?
“Once the schedules are out we will have a better idea of who we will line up against. Schools like Williamsburg, Mid Prairie, and West Branch all have some pretty good players that we have to line up against. From this past season though, Nolan Delong from Durant was the best player we played against.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes I would like to play football (QB).”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I was invited to several camps last summer ranging from D2 to Power 5 schools and I also was invited and attended the Princeton camp so I want to make sure I look at some Ivy League options too if my test scores are good enough. Right now I’ve talked to D2, Ivy League, and FCS schools so that’s probably where I’m going to focus my camp schedule around this summer.”

What school is recruiting you the hardest?
“I was a little behind in the recruiting game because I missed pretty much my whole Sophomore season with a broken collar bone that happened in our 3rd game of the year. The college coaches will start hitting schools for the class of 24 soon and I’ll have a better idea at that time.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“No.”

Do you have plans for any trips soon?
“I’m sure I’ll have some spring visits but those won’t happen usually until colleges get their 23 classes wrapped up.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“My dad actually played football for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1988 to 1992 so I didn’t really have a choice so I grew up a Hawkeye fan. Two of my sisters went to Iowa State so I also follow the Cyclones pretty closely. I really love college football though so if I ever got a chance to play anywhere I like to keep my options pretty open.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Becoming a better running back and linebacker than I was last year.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Better than this year.”

What team do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule?
“North Scott.”

Who is the toughest individual player your team will face off against?

“None.”

Tennessee owns scoreboard on the Big 3 sports vs lsu

@Bill_D will think this is homerism…but facts are facts

On top of pounding the tigers in basketball in Baton Rouge tonight, we bent them over at tiger stadium this past fall

Luckily lsu baseball only had to lose one game to the Vols last year as they escaped a three game series

As SEC blue bloods, I typically don’t rub it in on middling athletic departments, but I felt compelled as lsu has the dirtiest athletic department and they need reminded that shortcuts rarely work.
