Stats for all district/ all state teams

Odd question but does anyone know if these week 9 game's stats that are scheduled for the smaller class teams (8-man, A, 1A, 2A) that didn't make the playoffs count when voting for all district and all state teams?

Imo they should not. If you didn't make the playoffs in 2A on down your stats should stop at week 8. Varsity Bound is still recording stats for teams that played an extra week 9 game so I was just curious?

Best of feeble Joe…..just the last 30 days!

Class 5A Playoff Field

Almost went with straight seeds, except for saving Sioux City East from a cross-state trip to Pleasant Valley. I guess that’s okay.

It sets up an immediate Linn-Mar at Prairie rematch that Linn-Mar won 28-13 just last night. That could have been easily avoided with City at Prairie and Linn-Mar at Johnston … or as someone else mentioned, Waukee NW at Johnston, City at Prairie, LM at Kennedy, which is waaay less travel and still not too far apart seed-wise.

Davenport West (16) at Dowling Catholic (1)
Waukee Northwest (9) at Cedar Rapids Kennedy (8)

Ames (15) at Southeast Polk (2)
Linn-Mar (10) at Cedar Rapids Prairie (7)

Sioux City East (13) at Ankeny (3)
Iowa City High (11) at Johnston (6)

West Des Moines Valley (14) at Pleasant Valley (4)
Ankeny Centennial (12) at Cedar Falls (5)

Class 4A Playoff Field

This one is all over the place, which is understandable when 4 of the 6 top RPIs are clustered in the East. Still … a Xavier-Wash district rematch, when Fort Madison is going through CR on their way to Waverly anyway? Xavier gets no favors with Bondurant-Farrar in the second round, either … that is one tough 7 seed. And how about 8 seed Spencer getting the 15th seed for their matchup? Yes, Western Dubuque to Spencer is probably too long of a trip, but Indianola or Newton or Webster City couldn’t have fit against Spencer? Not that Glenwood is an easy 15 seed for Spencer to face - that’s still a tough one.

Also, a tough outcome for Marion … they actually finished 16th in RPI with a 5-4 record (after going 1-8 last year), but had the bad luck to have CR Wash right behind them at 17. Since Wash defeated Marion early in the season, tgey got the last spot and Marion was left out.

Cedar Rapids Washington (16) at Cedar Rapids Xavier (1)
Indianola (10) at Bondurant-Farrar (7)

Fort Madison (13) at Waverly-Shell Rock (2)
Western Dubuque (9) at North Scott (6)

Le Mars (14) at Lewis Central (4)
Glenwood (15) at Spencer (8)

Webster City (12) at Iowa City Liberty (3)
Newton (11) at Carlisle (5)

How has everything with the football season been going so far?
“It's been going good so far, lots of injuries on the team including myself, we did what we needed and we'll see who we plan on making far in the playoffs when all of our guys are back and healthy. Especially on offense, when we are healthy, the throw and run is dangerous because you have to respect both.”

Have you been pleased with how you have played this season?

How do you feel your team has played?
“We play very well when our offense clicks, our defense clicks. It's all connected. Our team builds off each other, and in these upcoming weeks, we need to play perfect football to have a real shot at it. As Individuals we’re not going to be perfect but as a team we can play perfect and that's what needs to happen.”

What do you feel your team can improve on?
“Penalties hurt our offense, putting us in drive-stopping situations. And for our defense, stopping the opposing team on 3rd down and short has been a real struggle.”

“We have to play clean and perfect football, no penalties, no turnovers.”

2A Playoffs!!

Who wants to take a stab at predicting 1st round matchups in Class 2A?? It looks like there are still a couple games this week that could tweak things, especially in D3!!

D8 is pretty much locked in now with their seeds unless I'm mistaken. The closest district to them is probably D7 so if you match up the seeds after projected winners Friday, we could have the following matchups:

1) West Marshall
4) Clarke

2) Clarinda
3) Roland Story

2) PCM
3) DSM Christian

1) Greene County
4) Chariton
