Email from North Union ADCan I ask where you saw this? I fully believe you, but I just can't find it.
I tend to agree with everything here. But one thing I would add is I think some of the blame lies with our Dept of Ed!Couldn't agree more. It causes issues with the need to list 10 teams to match up for non-district recommendations. Schools begin talking to each other in November/December and all of the initial work can be thrown out the window. They release the classifications/districts late- that causes the initial lists to be worthless and then it becomes hard to match with schools in a shortened amount of time. The state was angry last year because many schools didn't match. Get the classifications/districts out in December and then schools will have an ampul amount of time to build their lists and match up.
They wernt going to step on the girls union and take some of the luster out of the girls state wrestling tournament this week. I look for something next week as its basically a dead week. I also heard its taking a bit longer because a number of schools on bubble of each classification and want to make sure they have the numbers accurate. Heard their were like 5 or 6 teams within a % point of each other at the bottom of 2A and 1A.Would have been a great Friday to get classifications!

It's very frustrating but the delay has nothing to do with the Association or any time table/dead week. It is 100% because there were a bunch of schools who appealed their classification number and the Dept of Education is taking forever to figure those out now! Hopefully classifications will be out next week but at this point I'm not holding my breath! They wernt going to step on the girls union and take some of the luster out of the girls state wrestling tournament this week. Free and Reduced numbers can fluctuate as people apply at any time. It is my understanding that there is not a deadline like the count date. So probably some on the bubble are delaying/ appealing to drumming up applications so they don't have to go up a classI'm not really sure how there can be so many errors? The schools give the state their numbers and the state gives them to the IHSAA. I could understand there being a typo but it just seems weird.
Exactly, you'd think it would be a simple process but apparently it isn't! It maybe boils down to schools finding out they might be moving up a class so then they dig to double check numbers and dates?I'm not really sure how there can be so many errors? Be interesting to see what the FRL numbers are for the top 4 or 8 of each class. Did they do a study before implementing?I think the FRL multiplier is a good thing, but if it's true that schools are arguing their FRL number or changing it, then it's obvious there needs to be a hard deadline on FRL numbers too (like there are for BEDs)
