Who Is Switching Classes Next Cycle?

Saw that on twitter earlier, I think his enrollments he took off the BOE site but I'm sure doesn't have this years FRL He also posted possible districts

Talking with a friend who used to coach and now officiates and still currently teaches he brought up two points.

1. Sometimes a schools BEDs documents will include students that the two state associations would not count in their totals, he brought up level 3 special ed kids. I'm not sure if this is still the case or not, but that could impact the final totals.

2. Even though we probably have a good idea of what a schools FRL number is going to be it can vary from year to year more than one might think. He mentioned how some administrators do a really good job of making sure everyone who qualifies for it are signed up, and some simply don't.

Man, it would be really cool if the state would just come out with the classifications and districts already. Do it all in one shot, then schools can continue the process for doing their non-district schedule and then in March/April come out with the full schedules.

I will never understand what the delay is, once you receive the information from the state, the IHSAA should be able to release classifications within a coupe of days.

Couldn't agree more. It causes issues with the need to list 10 teams to match up for non-district recommendations. Schools begin talking to each other in November/December and all of the initial work can be thrown out the window. They release the classifications/districts late- that causes the initial lists to be worthless and then it becomes hard to match with schools in a shortened amount of time. The state was angry last year because many schools didn't match. Get the classifications/districts out in December and then schools will have an ampul amount of time to build their lists and match up.

I have said it before in Texas the UIL (their version of the IAHSAA/IGHSAU) releases districts in January and that is for 1400+ schools.

I tend to agree with everything here. But one thing I would add is I think some of the blame lies with our Dept of Ed!

The IHSAA can't act on anything until they get the figures from them and I heard they didn't receive anything until after the start of the new year this time around! Then if any schools want to argue about their numbers that too has to go through the Dept of Ed.

Any way you want to slice it, it's frustrating that we have to wait this long just to get the basic classifications, let alone schedules!!

They wernt going to step on the girls union and take some of the luster out of the girls state wrestling tournament this week. I look for something next week as its basically a dead week. I also heard its taking a bit longer because a number of schools on bubble of each classification and want to make sure they have the numbers accurate. Heard their were like 5 or 6 teams within a % point of each other at the bottom of 2A and 1A.
