Some interesting games tonight in what often is the upset round to decide which of these teams goes to state. Plus some make-up semifinal contests. Another big round Tuesday Night. Post your predictions, scores and comments here if you'd like. There are no gimmes on the stage tonight.

Substate #4 has Maquoketa with the state's best three-point shooter, Abe Becker, and formerly #1 against a very strong Marion team bolstered by CR Xavier transfer guard Will Hendrickson at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. Really a tossup game. These two teams started the season in the 3A top ten and haven't disappointed.

Another 3A contest has West Delaware vs. Davenport Assumption, ans that will be a tight game.

In 4A Sioux City East takes on a Lewis Central team that is very strong.

was going to the Maq-Marion game, stuff came up at work. That should be a fun game to watch. Really want Maq to make state as wow they have been bad for a long time.

Here's a bunch of scores and possible upsets, if they can be called that:

CB St.Albert 58, Ankeny Christian 56
SM Remson 51, South O'Brien 45
Rock Valley 61, OABCIG 44
Ballard 73, Pella 57
Oskaloosa 58, Fairfield 37
Sergeant Bluff- Luten 50, Spirit Lake 38
West Delaware (Manchester) 66, Davenport Assumption 59
Winterset 51, Denison-Schleswig 48 that was a tough matchup-
Sioux City East 71 CB Lewis Central 48-- semifinal
SC West 78, CB Abraham Lincoln 50- 4A semifinal
Marion 41, Maquoketa 38. Heartbreaking loss for Maquoketa as Marion's defense shuts them down. To state for second year in a row for the Marion Indians.

The two 3A powers, Norwalk and Clear Lake, play tomorrow.

Masen Miller from Iowa City Regina is the state's best 3 point shooter. 97 made overall at a 43.7% rate.
He's also one of the best dribblers I've ever seen in high school.

Rock Valley was down 15 at one point in the 1st half. Got it back to 3 at halftime, and took over in the 2nd half.

Amazing season. What was up with the shoes/floor on Saturday? Camanche didn’t have that issue.

I am surprised at the Assumption/WD score. Assumption plays in a 4A conference, but maybe the MAC wasn’t all it was built up to be. Seems to be very top heavy with a lot of terrible teams at the bottom. I’m sure their coach is feeling humbled this morning after his public comments about the WaMac and their coaches.
Was not aware that the Henrickson kid transferred from Xavier to Marion. Wonder what the reasoning was there? Clearly it worked out well for him. Good for him and happy to see Marion make it back two years in a row. WaMac with two teams in proving everyone wrong. Looking forward to following along with some great 4A games tonight.

Assumption, Xavier, Wahlert and Heelan-- the 3A teams that play in primarily 4A conferences are all out/eliminated. That tells you the strength of the 3A teams that beat them, and maybe it doesn't help that much playing "up." It definitely messes up your record so you are a low seed when the tourney starts. Also, West Delaware's enrollment is probably double what Assumption's is. Or maybe rural kids are just tougher than city kids. Ouch-- did I really say that?

Sergeant Bluff-Luton plays in the MRAC...the same as Heelan. SBL is in at 20-3. SBL (until LeMars joins the MRAC next year) may be the only 3A public school that plays in 4A conference.

I thought that this situation was completely impossible. All the advantages, city location, 4A conference prohibited this from ever happening.
