***** IN GAME THREAD - West Lyon vs. Regina *****

WL has displayed good offense today. 255 yards already.

Cook and Brinkman are by far and away the two best players on the field. WL arguably might have the better all around team. The problem is Brinkman and Cook alone are better than all that depth and size.

I think it was Moser with the touchdown run for the Wildcats.

28-14, but Regina with the ball near midfield. West Lyon stopping the run a bit better this drive and Cook is stopped short on a 3rd down keeper.

Regals gonna punt from midfield. Under 4 minutes to go in the 3rd qtr and West Lyon only down by 14.

When will Blameit join this thread to complain about how it was going to be a blowout with an early 35 point continuous clock?

Unbelievable, WL with another false start on 4th and 1. They are killing their chances.

The problem is, Regina's penalties happen when they don't hurt as badly. Kickoffs going out of bounds and false starts on first down. WL is getting penalties on 4th and 1 and in the red zone.

Big difference is Regina is overcoming the penalties too.

3 big 4th down opportunities missed in this game for West Lyon and you could probably add that last punt as the 4th.

Moser stopped at the 2, Whalen taking a shot down field instead of running for the 1st down, and then the pass out of the endzone at the end of the half.

Regina pushes themselves back with penalties and then inadvertently pads their stats with a Cook to Phillips connection for a back-breaking 1st down.

That's been the one constant so far. Regina has been able to get big yards in the passing game just about whenever they want.

End of the 3rd Qtr

Iowa City Regina- 7 14 7

West Lyon- 7 0 7

That's true but it's easier to overcome a 1st down penalty than converting on a 4th and long that could have been an easy run. The last one forced a punt.

Pine, what are Adam's plans for college? He's not partial to soccer is he?

The Hawks could use a boost in the kicking game....

I said coming in West Lyon needed to play totally clean and the penalties they have had have really hurt them. Regina tough to beat anyway, about impossible if you beat yourself too.

Not sure about Adam's college plans. He's a great kicker and a great soccer player as well.

Koehn does just fine in that department.

West Lyon losing a little steam late in this drive. Might have used it all up just to get to this point.

Big 4th and 8 play coming up for the Wildcats.
