Use the old BCS formula and the top 6 get in. Top two get a bye.
Not sure about the auto qualifiers being useful at all. Only issue is the teams who play for a conference championship can either improve their PO odds (SMU, ASU) or not. Just take the top 12 ranked teams and give first round byes to 1-4.No auto qualifiers from B12, leaning that way from ACC as well, rely on SOR and head to head and **** your record if you played 8 junior college level opponents.
If they are smart the conferences will do away with championship games. Not sure about the auto qualifiers being useful at all. Just feels like there will be blowouts no matter what the format is. Maybe that is ok.Or…do it the FCS way.
Would require most schools to go to 10 game regular season, scrap the “tune up games”.16 team playoff field with no bye's !
I think there will always be but not necessarily because of team mismatch. Do you think UT gets blown out by the same OSU team that showed up and lost to Michigan?Just feels like there will be blowouts no matter what the format is. Maybe that is ok.
We beat the Hokies, not WVUThe least they could have done in 2004 (incredible the left an SEC team out given our SOS) was put us in a bowl game vs. Utah. We would have crushed them like a stepping on a grape, but they were 'undefeated' and it would have put us at a somewhat better position than beating WVU. Still wouldn't have jumped USC, but....
Well that is the same team. Sometimes it is matchups, sometimes it’s the bounce of the ball or it’s just one team was more motivated that day. Texas got two shots at Georgia and couldn’t get it done. If there’s a third who knows the outcomes but the teams arent any different. Man is that some deep thinking.I think there will always be but not necessarily because of team mismatch. Food for thought- if Georgia had lost the SECC, do they still get in? I don’t think so but could certainly see the argument. If they are smart the conferences will do away with championship games.
