After further review…. A six team playoff is all we need.

No auto qualifiers from B12, leaning that way from ACC as well, rely on SOR and head to head and **** your record if you played 8 junior college level opponents.

Not sure about the auto qualifiers being useful at all. Only issue is the teams who play for a conference championship can either improve their PO odds (SMU, ASU) or not. Just take the top 12 ranked teams and give first round byes to 1-4.

Politics will keep the auto qualifiers…. Plus, it helps the ACC and Big12 from imploding. Let them have a spot…. If no spot, then ACC will likely be done in 2035-2036.

The $$$ gravy already is pretty much split up by the B1G and SEC…. Any more members clawing their way into the Power Two will start to water down the overall piece of the pie for the rest of us.

And might as well give the Best of Five something to shoot for…. The cost of being in the FBS league is only going to increase, and those schools are eventually going to start pealing off

If they are smart the conferences will do away with championship games.

Just feels like there will be blowouts no matter what the format is. Maybe that is ok.
I think there will always be but not necessarily because of team mismatch. Do you think UT gets blown out by the same OSU team that showed up and lost to Michigan?

The goal isn’t to pick the best 12 or 16 teams. It’s to make sure the best two play for the championship.

Fans wanted to expand the field to prevent a deserving team from being left out. Auburn fans should be familiar with that situation (2004 anyone?)

The least they could have done in 2004 (incredible the left an SEC team out given our SOS) was put us in a bowl game vs. Utah. We would have crushed them like a stepping on a grape, but they were 'undefeated' and it would have put us at a somewhat better position than beating WVU. Still wouldn't have jumped USC, but....

We beat the Hokies, not WVU
