Who Is Switching Classes Next Cycle?

I don't think BCL-UW will be small enough to go 8 man.

Kingsley Pierson because of a couple of bigger classes would actually miss the 8 man cutoff by .1, now I'm sure they could get the 2 year wavier, and be under in 2 years. That is also based off the BEDs information from last year, and the FRL from 2 years ago.

Saint Ansgar is another school that would be a close to small enough to go 8 man, but I doubt will ever go as long as Clevenger is there.

South O'Brien and West Monona are also close enough + free and reduced lunch. No idea if either will just know they're close enough.

I see the 2024-25 BEDS are on the IAHSAA website. At least a guy can get an idea of what schools have made significant changes in numbers. Haven't seen FRL numbers and don't recall where to find that. Also not sure who's sharing or dissolving cooperative agreements.

Are those the actual BEDS numbers for this school year though? Or is still based off a previous year?

Who does NE Goose Lake share football with? I see last time they did districts their number was 272, but this year they are only 209. They must share with a smaller school?? If not, thats a huge drop in numbers and would likely put them in 1A.

So I've heard that Bellevue Marquette is going to join Bellevue HS in football, so they will certainly go up to 1A, and then Northeast will likely drop from 2A to 1A since they will no longer have a sharing agreement??

You are correct, I think believe Bellevue was going to be going up with or without them so they decided to take them on, I actually believe that they have been together for middle school, but then high school the Marquette kids went to NE.

Bellevue will only gain a handful of Marquette kids as most dont play football. They have shared with a number of schools over the years including Dubuque Whalert
Seems like they would probably have some good athletes to contribute, since Marquette is currently the #1 ranked basketball team in 1A.

Most of those kids dont play football. I know when they were combined with Whalert it was only like 5 or 6 kids and about the same at NE. Those Marquette kids focus on basketball and baseball as I think they may have been combined with Bellevue last summer for baseball.

A 1A school where the basketball kids don't even play football... That's part of the reason we end up having school sharing agreements, and not a great development for small school high school sports.

IAHSAA's Jared Chizek just sent out an email to schools that they need to verify their enrollment #'s and FRL by next Wednesday (Jan 22nd). Iowa BOE has sent the numbers to the IAHSAA and now it's just a matter of verifying. Should be soon that we find out football classifications for the '25-'26 school years
