Who Is Switching Classes Next Cycle?

As far as small schools, I could see BGM and SE Warren going back to Class A. There are several schools like North Tama that could come down to 8-Man, but some don't want to.

Any official rumblings, or is it too early?

Official BEDs aren't due for a few weeks. There will be a couple of schools who could go down, but I know some won't if there is a decent chance that they will be forced to go back.

I have heard that some small schools boardering bigger cities are growing in numbers fast and could change classes.

A great example is Alburnett, I have heard there has been a big jump in their numbers. They were Class A two years ago, 1A now, but possibly 2A in the next cycle? They have 18 sophs and 20 freshmen on thier football roster, those are big numbers for a 1A school.

I believe Alburnett is going from the Tri Rivers Conference to the River Valley, and it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up in the WaMaC eventually.

Kingsley-Pierson will have the potential to go back to 8 man as they are breaking off their sharing agreement with River Valley - so could have 2 more NWIA 8 man teams again (if RV could gather up enough dudes)

From what I know of River Valley, that could be a big "if". I would assume they wouldn't keep sharing for just football I'm also not sure they would head over to Ridge View either, that could bump them up to 2A

I heard that Dike New Hartford may be moving up to 2A next cycle.

Alb will not end up in the wamac, they would never ever bee competitive in that conference, just look at Center Point Urbana when they left to join the Wamac for the most part in most sports they are not competitive. Alb is not growing as a district its just that they are taking a lot of open enrolled kids from basically the linn mar school district. Unless Alb builds a new school off site as they are already land locked where they are with no room to build I think they will stay where they are in class.

I saw that Bellevue and Bellevue Marquette were combing in football next year according to a release from Bellevue school district. That will move them from class A to 1A. Last rotation schools like Wapsie Valley and Lisbon were real close within a couple students based on free and reduced lunch formula to being in class 1A and from the looks they have some bigger classes since then so wouldn't surprise me to see them going up a class.

That could be a lot of movement in eastern Iowa alone. I enjoy seeing schools play some new competition as long as they don't have to travel 2+ hours. Look forward to seeing the BEDS numbers when they come out, someone please post them when they become available.

Lisbon is growing, based on their location, not extreme growth. I know that Wapsie had 3 of it's larger classes being counted last time, so they might stay in Class A.

I believe one of their bigger if not biggest classes will be next years fresh class, plus they have a very low free and reduced lunch % and thats what could quite possibly move them up.

I had no idea Fairfield and Washington were so close to be down in 2A due to their multiplier.

I think you may have some schools with a big change in their multiplier number, that number was just coming off everyone getting a free lunch because of Covid so their were some parents that forgot to turn in the paper work, so I am interested to see how some of that changes.

They are close to the cutoff for 8man/A but don't think they have much for numbers right now. 18 kids after looking it up.
Riceville I believe may go back to A with an influx of numbers recently. Not for sure.
