I think Epworth, Western Dubuque defeating Xavier, Cedar Rapids on homecoming at Saints Field is the biggest upset. I think my case is made by the following:
1. WD came in averaging 244 yards on the ground and garnered about a third of that.
2. Xavier doesn't get a yard of passing. Not predicted or expected.
3. Xavier comes out of halftime and gives up a TD drive. Not typical (but they haven't played many meaningful second halves this year).
4. Xavier has punt return TD called back. Not unusual to have penalties on punt returns.
5. Xavier fails to sustain drives and does not score offensively. Cold and windy weather has not historically favored Xavier.
6. WD got a key defensive starter back and defense was energized.
