All-state OL and LB Drew Finnegan was lost for the season last night it the rumor I am hearing.
That is a huge blow to their title hopes and the season. Hope the rumor isnt true cuz you never wish something like that happens to anybody.

He did get injured. Sad to see it happen, good kid and good family. Hope his recovery is quick.

Indeed he suffered an ankle injury. We'll await word this week from an ankle specialist but the initial prognosis is a broken fibula and pins will be needed. Minimum recover time is 6-8 weeks for an injury of this nature. For a 17 year old kid let's hope.

One thing I can tell you is that Drew is taking the injury news like a champ. He is already moving forward to the recovery process and thinking about the next step. I hope he is able to get on the field again, but I can say I am more proud of how he is handling it than whether he makes a tackle.

Fun note ---- his final play was a solo TFL on defense. For 27 minutes (the game was postponed until Saturday at the 8:51 mark of the 3rd), Finnegan record 11 tackles, 4.5 TFL (4 solo). An all-state type LB performance.

Talked with him Saturday,, great kid, said he was out for the season.

My son had same type of injury on second day of practice in high school a few years ago and he missed rest of football season and most of basketball as well. Takes significant time to rehab to get somewhat close to normal. I feel for the young man.
