Luke - leaving out West Hancock makes little sense.

Ex 1 - your #1 St Ansgar beat Osage by 10. West Hancock beat Osage by 38

Ex 2 - your #8 Algona Garrigan lost to Emmetsburg by 5. West Hancock beat Emmetsburg by 28.

I would argue that West Hancock should be #1.

He knows west Hancock is the best team, but leaves them off to spark conversation on the board

Saint Alberts in Council Bluffs is a clear and obvious top 10 class A team.

Playing up multiple classes to start off the year helps overshine that in class A they are a contender

SA might end up being ranked and/or have a run in the playoffs, but they got blown out in playing up twice. How does that create an argument for ranking them at this point in the season?

1. playing up classes cannot be overlooked. Huge difference between playing a good 2a school week 1 compared to playing a below average school your size and rolling.

2. Saint Albert loss to treynor, for sure. ugly game. But two garbage time tds late on a second team defense after saint alberts subbed hardly qualifies as a blowout. if you were to of attended you would know it was a back and fourth game for 3 quarters.

i guess only time will tell. but to rank some of these teams due to a cupcake schedule above them is in my humble opinion, wrong. But I can see both angles

I would agree it is different competition, but no one outside of Pottawattamie County knows this about those two losses. No one is going to give SA the benefit of doubt.

In the rankings, games to teams up a class only count if it's a win.

Overall tough to rank a 1-2 team that lacks a quality win. Just a reminder......their lone win was vs Logan Magnolia who had a 1-8 record last year.

I don't disagree. My point is more along the lines of they are a top 10 team, just have played up and against better competition. For example south obrien. for ex yes, they are undefeated. but they have also barely beaten above and below 500 teams from the previous season. hardly a top 10 team. rewarding teams for beating average competition in my opinion is the flaw of the new ranking and playoff system.
