They tried to give him the benefit of the doubt because there were experiments on how introducing opposite sex hormones into mice might effect health, but that's not "to make mice transgender". There were studies making "transgenic mice" by introducing foreign DNA, which is exactly what I'm sure one of his fellow idiots was referencing, but we don't even know 100% because it was so dumb.
