While most of the attention is on the 1A and 2A tourney results, the 3A and 4A teams finish up the regular season with lots of interesting match-ups among the larger schools. Of course, next week you can start to throw out all the previous records!

Dubuque Senior 61, Waterloo East 43 as deepest reserves playing for the Rams. Senior wins the Mississippi Valley Conference overall championship second year in a row, whether Iowa City West wins tonight or not. And remarkably they played most of their MVC games without their leading scorer.

I can't believe it. The IHSAA site is down again! Hopefully it'll be back up and running soon. Anyone else have scores? ....Some of the site is now operational, but not all.

Bettendorf 73, Davenport Central 46
Newton 59, ADM 57
Spirit Lake 57, Nevada 56
CCA 62, Anamosa 54
Boone 55, Webster City 44
Ballard 72, DM Lincoln 64
Iowa City West 54, Cedar Rapids Xavier 49. West rallies at the end from a tight game throughout in a battle of defending champions from 4A and 3A.
Linn-Mar 79, Waterloo West 64
CR Kennedy 63, Iowa City 57
Dubuque Hempstead 62, CR Jefferson 51

Love your information and passion about HS basketball! I don't think I have ever heard anyone refer to an overall MVC Champion before, but Senior and IC West finished with identical 14-2 league records (although Senior did beat West head to head). Senior certainly didn't have the best record in the MVC last season as IC West was 15-1last season. I agree with you that Senior has had a remarkable season though.

Good points, cem. Was just reporting what was said on the radio, and Senior posed in the middle of the gym floor with a banner after the game that said "Back to back MVC Champions." I guess the head -to-head win over IC West puts them ahead, although, yes, they had identical MVC records. Last year Senior must have won their division in the MVC, or tied with ICW. Yes, Senior did have three losses in the overall MVC, and IC West just lost to CR Prairie in 2016- 2017. I'm just the messenger. I'm no expert on Senior basketball. The scores came in so late last night that I didn't have anything else to post about, and that photo with the banner was all over Twitter. I also didn't know they won the MVC last year, and overall they didn't. Thanks, cem, for having a sharp eye..

I would have loved to see that IC West vs. Xavier game. Sounded like a really good one. That is pretty cool they were able to schedule a game between last years 3A and 4A Champs.

According to the CR Gazette, Xavier led by seven late and was ahead most of the second half, but West rallied with 3 minutes to go, with tough defense.. Matt Mims had 25 for Xavier even though he was guarded by 6-8 Patrick McCaffery of West. I've been on the Mims bandwagon for a long time. Kid is definitely a D1- level player. Patrick McCaffery 18.

DM North and DM Hoover lost tonight. Meaning a Top 5 shake up in 4A is likely. Johnston beat Hoover with a stellar 3-2 zone. Marshalltown with a shocker 62-61 over North. I don't have stats but my guess is Appel gave North trouble.

North Scott and Pleasant Valley win in the Mac finishing tied at 16-2 in conference. PV beats Muscatine with a sick Weiskamp who only managed 13 and 7. North Scott took care of Clinton.

Dav West win over Burlington and Muscatine loss makes West 3rd and Muscatine ties with Dav North at 11-7 in 4th. Assumption loses 70-50 to North which broke the tie between the two in conference. North was 17-20 free throws in the 4th quarter.

MAC standings:
NS/PV co champions 16-2
Davenport West 12-6
Davenport North/ Muscatine 11-7
Davenport Assumption 10-8
Bettendorf
Davenport Central
Clinton
Burlington
