Had a chance to watch the CRX/WSR game last night... Go-Hawks gave the Saints everything they could handle and had a chance to make things VERY interesting at the end. CRX is solid, but they don't strike me as being as explosive and dominant as they have been in the past. I don't know how WSR ended up as a 4 Seed, but their kids had guts and played their tails off. CRX made the plays they had to make when they had to be made. Will be interesting to see how they match-up with a Decorah team that upset Indee and beat WSR earlier in the year.

Of course it's also a Decorah team that got thumped by pretty weak Charles City squad (well, thumped on the scoreboard. They actually outgained the Comets by about 20 yards).

Decorah is tough to figure out. They probably didn't have any business beating Waverly Shell Rock, being outgained 213-168, but they did it. They have a great ground game, of course, but every so often they'll throw for 140 yards or so. They've given up big yards in some games, both on the ground (Independence the first time, North Fayette Valley, West Del) and through the air (Waukon, Vinton-Shellsburg) ... but they've also taken some turns really shutting down some teams. They are quite a puzzle to prepare for.

He is already a good QB, but that young man is going to be an excellent player the next two years. Washington's program is rolling and they will be a tough out in the future. Good things happening there. Would like to see Pella and Washington continue playing each other in non-district games, as I assume they won't be in the same district. Pella will take a step back to reality next year as they will lose a bunch of really good seniors. Will be a good year for some folks to seek some revenge on the Dutch, although they will still have talent.

Pella'a coaching staff did a great job of pulling starters the last two years I will say that they could of put up some unbelievable stats.thats awesome for high school sports. The Qb from Washington reminds a lot of fans of the pella qb when he was a soph. That maybe a little much but I can see it

Washington's QB is a very tough kid and you can't teach that. He isn't afraid to put his shoulder down and run a defender over. I'm sure the coaches at Washington would prefer more caution, but I think he is generally the one that does the punishing on those hits!
