Pella 89 DCG 48. Pella has taken some time to get it into gear after the long football playoff run, but they are playing very well. They will be a handful when it comes tournament time. This was at DCG.

Linn-Mar 68, Dub. Wahlert 60. Junior Cordell Pemsl in street clothes as he is still out with his injured knee (and will be for a while). Weird game as Wahlert had huge leads most of the game and led by 17 in the middle of the third. Then 6-6 junior starter Riley Till of Wahlert hurt his back and was out, and the Lions mounted a strong comeback, helped by a full court press (and Wahlert self-destruction) and the Lions won at the free throw line, outscoring the Eagles by 25 in the second half. Junior Jordan Bohannon 14 points for the Lions, senior Nic Uhler 20 and Josh Carter 17 for Wahlert. My favorite player, Junior reserve David Iwowari, had a breakout game for the Eagles with 12 points and multiple blocks and shot disruptions.

Keokuk over Mt. Pleasant 50-36. Jonny Dahl led the way with 17 points for the Chiefs and Chris Ailes-Jones had a strong game as well.

North Scott 57 Assumption 38

15-12 after 1... Seales had 8-10 of NS 15.... That included a Left wing 3pt line lob pass to the right side of the rim for Seales who came flying in along the baseline for a high rising alley oop about 1 1/2 foot above the rim with his arm length.

23-16 North Scott at half. They continued to spread Assumption out and allow Seales to create and score or create and dish. A few dribble hand offs with back cuts resulted in Assumption being out of position to make a play on the ball resulting in a few other buckets.

North Scott did a good job of helping when Assumption fed Youngblut. Seales also got a few blocks against Youngblut in some plays that he could have been called for body fouls, but the referees were not calling much of anything in the game. Foul count was 6 Assumption and 2 North Scott in the first half.

Third quarter was a change of pace for North Scott. They utilized Seales as almost an exclusive dribble drive and kick player. They went 5 out offensively and allowed Stewart to work in 1 on 1 positions. They forced some turnovers against Assumption and when they began to push the tempo Assumption had issues stopping the ball which led to Stewart getting And 1's, fouls, lay ups, and free throws.

The lead was stretched to 16 or so in the early 4th quarter when Assumption began a rally. After forcing a few bad shots by Seales and Stewart they were able to hit 3's on 3 straight trips which had cut the lead down to 9 with about 5 minutes left. North Scott scored to make it 11 again. Assumption came out of a timeout firing off another 3 which was on line, but just short.

North Scott stretched everyone out well beyond the 3 point line and were content with dribbling around for the rest of the game(4:30 minutes) if Assumption would have allowed it. Eventually, Assumption pressured Stewart and Seales who would attack the rim and continued to dish it to Ricky Grimes. Grimes who didn't take an outside shot the first 3 quarters of the game though it was available hit 3 or 4 3's in the final minutes as well as making a few drives for lay ups and fouls after receiving passes from Seales or Stewart. That allowed North Scott to slowly stretch the lead out and eventually put the game away for good.

Assumption had no one who could consistently guard and contest Seales shots as he mainly rose above the defenders when shooting. Stewart was getting the dribble drive basically whenever he wanted as well.

Assumption couldn't handle the basketball and North Scott didn't turn it over. I believe Assumption had 20+ turnovers and only managed 1 steal on defense. North Scott had a hand full of turnovers and two of which were for traveling.

Yes, the Hoover/East game score is correct 69-9 Hoover. Hoover opened the game on a 31-2 run. East only scored two field goals all night--one 2 and one 3 pointer. there was a running clock most of the second half. Not sure what the rules are for a running clock as I have never seen one before in a basketball game.

I believe it is being up 35+ at half or after... The clock only stops on timeouts, free throws, end of quarter, or stoppage of play for injury.
