Much like Mediapolis losing Jesse Ertz in the playoffs... Svoboda was key to the Don Bosco offense and that cost them.

Big time. That's why I never got it when I'd hear people say Don Bosco was better this year than last year (not necessarily here, but I've heard it from other places). This year's team is nothing special without Svoboda in the lineup, and no offense to him, but he ain't Jake Hogan.

"Notning special"?? That is kinda harsh, don't you think? I mean they beat HLV (who beat a damn good Janesville team last week, and a damn good CE team last night), and lost to a very good NF team last night by one point with back up quarterbacks. Yes, Svoboda was the best quarterback, but those other kids that filled in at QB did pretty darn well also. And as a team, they fared pretty well I would say. Again, congrats to a good NF team, and best of luck in they playoffs, and congrats to a great DB team.

I would agree with you Engine5Driver. Maybe Don Bosco panicked last night, I don't know, I wasn't there. But when they rotated several different guys in at quarterback earlier in the season again HLV (with district title implications on the line) and they still looked like a damn good team. Tough break for the Dons and congrats to them on a great season. Also, thoughts and prayers to Svoboda and his family. Hate to see a season/career end under those circumstances.

I don't think it was panick so much as it was not being properly prepared. Throwing the back-ups into a game vs. lesser competition or halfway into a game is much different than changing your game plan 1 play into a game...especially against a team like NF. Considering the situation, it's pretty astounding they were in the position to lose it in the final minute.

I never said Don Bosco was terrible without Svoboda. There's a difference between being good and being special. With Svoboda, Don Bosco was incredibly difficult to hang with, much less beat. Without him, they're good, but not state championship-caliber.
