Overview:
After finishing as the third best team in Class 4A last year, Sioux City East
has a chance to have another big year. All Stater Roman Gentry is back
after putting up nineteen points and eleven rebounds per game. Gentry was
a hot topic all off-season as he committed to Northern Iowa and changed his mind
during the end of summer. Once that scholarship was taken by an
out-of-state player, Gentry saw that door close and is currently uncommitted.
Time will tell if that will help or hurt his game this year. Sometimes
players stay more motivated with the chances of impressing a college coach while
others press more and try to doing too much to impress those coaches.
Outside of Gentry, Zach Fenceroy does return after a solid junior year.
One younger player to keep an eye on is bigman Eric Jorgensen. He is only
a sophomore but has a very bright future ahead of him.
