Overview:
Sheldon may have missed out on the State tournament but that shouldn't take away
from the season they had last year. The Orabs finished 21-4 overall and
15-1 in-conference. But with three starters now graduated, Sheldon may
have a different look. The surprise of last year was that sophomore Stephen Kirschbaum
ended up as the leading scorer. It was obvious that this kid could play
but he had a better season than expected. Kirschbaum finished the year
averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. And with the fact that he
spent the summer playing AAU basketball, he will be even better. The only
other returning starter for this team is John Doely. He enters into his
senior year and nearly averaged ten points per game last year as the fourth
option on the team. The Orabs may have a slow start to the new year
because the football team made it to the semifinals. But once they get
everyone back into basketball shape, the team has some talented players who are
capable of having another big year.
