What’s the best bang for the buck?
I pay cash so I’m not looking for a carrier that offers a free phone or whatever scam they’re pushing. Verizon is my carrier and the wife doesn’t need the most recent fancy phone, although I’m not ruling one out. She’ll be happy with whatever I give her or ….. you know…..

So what iPhone do y'all recommend?

I get the larger ones because it is easier to use/see/etc. I also usually get the latest one, even if the previous version is cheaper. Mainly because I don't do the upgrade every year or two thing like some people, I run mine 5-7 years on average. Not sure how often ya'll replace yours. If it is more often (3 yr or so) save some scratch and get last year's version. I have had a 15 Pro Max for about a year now. No problems with it.

I can't tell any difference in all of the goofy different cameras, etc they put on them. If you have a lot of apps or store a lot of pics, the higher storage is good. Otherwise you can save some scratch with one with less storage.

I use the shit out of mine for work, so I go more high end. Buy once cry once.

In short - screen size, storage, and then decide if you want this year's version (16) or last years (15). All the bells and whistles Apple uses to push people to refresh every year are largely toys and geek porn. I'd go with Pro Max to get the largest screen.

Not what you asked but consider AT&T as the provider.

I used Verizon for about 20 years because they were vastly superior, network wise. Where i live that's just not true anymore. Verizon has gotten a little worse and AT&T has gotten better. They're pretty even now and I saved some money switching.

Like you, I buy my phones so I'm not beholden to either company so there wasn't much risk if I hated AT&T. I find that I have fewer dropped calls now but that may not be true in your neck of the woods.

Caveat...I use "FirstNet" which is AT&T for first responders. Essentially that gives my phone priority if the network is overloaded so it's possible that the general network isn't as good as I believe.

Great info! I may switch to a t&t.
I wonder if I simply tell them that I’m LE if that would get me on first net?
If not, would you mind allowing me to borrow your badge for a day or so? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I’m thinking 15 pro max would be a good option.

To answer your question, I use Samsung...cuz' I'm a grown-up. 😂

But my wife and kids love their 16 Pro Max. No issues with them at all.
I work with a lot of technical folks and it is funny how the lines split between the two.

Android has more ability to tinker, but I don't want to tinker with my primary comms device. I just need it to work. I get that iPhones are overpriced and Apple is Apple, but they pretty much just work. That's what I need.

The camera was the biggest deal for me. Security is better on iPhone...but to the point where my phone was secured away from me using it occasionally. This part may been due to me being an old.

My brother is the GM for two Verizon stores in north AL and will hook you right up.

SPOILER: I still have AT&T because I’m too lazy to change.
