That guy is terrible , talks too much about nothing. Only talks about the same two or three players all game long. Loves one team ( he thinks Pella could beat the Packers ) rips on the other. Did the SB-L qb dump his daughter or something ? guy was all over him all game long. But the Pella qb must be marrying his daughter because you would think you were watching Aaron Rodgers, not some kid that will be a safety at Drake.
Get rid of this guy , he is brutal and borderline a jerk that does the kids and viewers no favors.

I agree, I say that every year. There is another color guy that does most of the games and I think he is even worse.. I think they said he coaches HS volleyball so couldn't commentate last night.o_O
I muted them when SBL scored on that pass right before half, the guy said it was a lucky catch then tried to correct himself but just made it worse. They definitely have a bias to some schools and you can hear the disappointment in their voice when their school isn't winning.. makes ya wonder if they have some $$ on these games.
When are they going to broadcast these games in HD? Come on already.. my cell phone takes better video.

I heard that ' lucky ' comment , what a jerk! The hack didn't like SB-L that is for sure. He needs to removed asap, but then he is probably one of the Boone boys ,which explains his crap attitude and why he has the job.
Just watch though , the clown will get inducted into the ' IHSAA' hall of fame along with the other 5,000 Boone brown noses this winter.

Everything you said you didn't like about this guy you're saying it yourself.lol
Why slam the Pella kid he didn't do anything wrong and had over 400yds offense probably 10 tackles plus a block punt for a TD.
1 of the best performance I've seen for a while.

Who slammed the Pella kid?
The difference is we are saying things on an online forum where a few people will read it, not on live TV where people all over the state are watching. The SBL kid that caught the TD pass will probably order a copy of that broadcast or watch the recording and he is going to hear the commentator say it was a LUCKY catch.. Instead of GREAT catch young man.

I agree 100% that there is no need to say anything negative about any HS kid playing football to many good things going on in every play to pick out the bad.

Need Jim Zabel and Frosty Mitchell back LOL , they were perfect for high school ball not like this negative clown.

It is good to have an opinion. To be able to express it without insult is both a skill and a character strength. You offer your disdain about an announcer, which is probably a valid observation, but then disparage another kid and off-hand slam Drake? Some wise person once said "practice what you preach!"

As a radio play-by-play guy myself, I would kind of enjoy the opportunity to do these TV games. On the other hand, these same two guys do four games a day for three straight days. That's gotta be tough just to keep all the players and storylines straight.

During the Kennedy-Bettendorf game, they both missed the fact that Bett's starting quarterback wasn't in the game. They also missed Kennedy putting Shaun Beyer in to take the snap and score their first TD - they kept crediting the Kennedy QB for the run, and then later in the game said "We're surprised we're not seeing more out of Beyer tonight." He just scored the freaking touchdown, you knuckleheads!

I also caught the "luck" statement after SBL's long TD pass, and that made me cringe a little, too. That was a perfectly thrown ball and the receiver made a fantastic catch - calling that "lucky" was not a good choice. Give those kids credit for making the play on both ends.

It's gotta be tough doing four games back-to-back-to-back-to-back. And then do that for three days.

I'd still like the chance, though.

I really try to stay positive in my posts, but I have to say that I cringe a lot when I try to listen to the IHSSN commentators. I only watch/listen to them because they "come" with the video streaming.

The games were in hd on comcast. Kdmi is not hd, but kcwi is, hopefully championships will be in hd locally.

I've done some PA announcing with large groups of people and yes, by the end of a long day, you're apt to mis-pronounce names, miss a call and just downright botch an entire series of calls.
And you're right about the picture quality. I watched on the KCRG channels and it was light years ahead of what it had been in the past.

they are way better than the chicago people who do the Illinois state finals. Those people don't even know how to pronounce some of the schools names and half of the time don't even know where the schools are located. They are brutal.

I loved the fact that the games were on Comcast this year. I hope they keep that up.
