IHSSN State Tournament DVDs -- just so you know

In late December I finally got around to ordering the DVDs from IHSSN.com of the state tournament from last March. In case anyone is thinking of doing the same this year, here are a few things to note:
  1. I ordered 3 DVDs on Dec. 22 and my credit card was charged that day. 3 weeks later I had not received anything nor heard anything about my DVDs so I sent an email. There was no reply to my email, but about a week and half later my DVDs arrived (the web site FAQ does say "DVDs usually ship within 3 weeks after payment clears.").
  2. The biggest surprise was that the DVDs are in standard definition, not HD. The quality is not great.
  3. Rather than printing content information on the DVD itself, there is a sticker stuck on the face of the DVD with game information. This may cause an issue in some DVD players as the weight of the sticker can throw off the rotation of the disc.

I bought a couple of those DVDs a few years ago. Everything you just described was the same back then. So apparently they have made no effort to put out a better product even though today's technology makes it really easy. My church can put out HD DVDs of our services with some pretty basic equipment, but a professional production company can't? The IHSSN is one the worst thing that has ever happened to Iowa high school athletics.

How much did you pay? Last time I went to buy one it was like 25 dollars per game or something. Totally ridiculous. Look at how great the coverage of the girls' tournament is on IPTV. Every game is streamed live (either on TV or online) and they are all saved now and can be found with a simple Youtube search. The IHSSN is a huge joke. You didn't make enough money screwing over the idiots that run the IHSAA? It's crazy to think of how much money the IHSSN is going to lose long term because of how badly they've botched everything (assuming the Association has enough brains to end all ties with them after the contract runs up).

Just curious...can the schools get rid of the IHSAA?...and start their own boys association?...Jw?...I’ve been around Iowa sports for 20 + yrs and the boys Association is a complete joke

The school administrators can get rid of this pathetic scam just like that. But the IHSAA has their heads so far up their rears, it will never happen. Ever known an administrator that doesn't like his butt kissed, IHSAA has it down to a science. Notice the endless halftime show of the dork sups getting into the IHSAA hall of crap. That is their payoff for supporting this pile of of garbage.
