Highlighted Games

#12 Belmond-Klemme @ #13 Pleasantville

This may be the best game in Class A on Wednesday night. Both teams have been in the rankings most of the year and in the top 10 for a good chunk of the season but had a few tough losses to drop them out. Both are looking to make a big playoff push however only one will get that chance. Korby Sander is a workhorse and has a great sidekick in Taylor Meints and both look to lead a run happy offense into Pleasantville. Zeb Adreon and a balanced offensive attack look to protect their home field. I think this one will be a tight one all the way through but I think Belmond-Klemme’s running attack will wear down Pleasantville late and they will pull this one out. Belmond-Klemme 28-24 final.

#16 St. Albert @ #15 Akron-Westfield

Another very good opening round game between two teams that could make playoff runs. A young St. Albert team, led by Luke Waters look to continue to build experience with their balanced offense. Cal Eskra is having a fantastic junior year and leads a very solid Akron-Westfield team. I think the home team will pull this one out due to having a little more experience and having the home field advantage. Akron-Westfield 21-14 final.

New Class A

Games--Winner

AGWSR, Ackley (4-5) vs. #2 Bishop Garrigan, Algona (9-0)-- Garrigan Blowout Alert!!! Garrigan huge

Bedford (6-3) vs. #8 Mount Ayr (7-2)-- Mt. Ayr Still one of the best teams in the state and has a great chance to go back to the dome

#12 Belmond-Klemme (7-2) vs. #13 Pleasantville (8-1)-- Belmond-Klemme I am going with B-K here, but if Sander doesn't play that is a different story.

Danville (3-6) vs. #1 B-G-M, Brooklyn (9-0)-- BGM Mega-Blowout Alert!!!. Should be over after 1st quarter

Earlham (6-3) vs. Colfax-Mingo (7-2)-- Colfax-Mingo This might be a back and forth game, but I will take Colfax by 10

East Buchanan, Winthrop (6-3) vs. #10 Gladbrook-Reinbeck (7-2)-- Gladbrook-Reinbeck East Buchanan has been playing better, but G-R will be too much.

Grundy Center (5-4) vs. #11 West Hancock, Britt (7-2)-- West Hancock I don't think West Hancock has much of an issue in this one.

Lawton-Bronson (6-3) vs. #5 Audubon (8-1)-- Audubon Lawton will hang around for awile but Audubon will take over in the second half.

Lone Tree (6-3) vs. Lisbon (7-2)-- Lisbon Don't know much about this match-up so I will take the home team

Lynnville-Sully (6-3) vs. #9 Pekin (7-2)-- Pekin Pekin will take control early and not let up

Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto (5-4) vs. #6 West Sioux, Hawarden (9-0)-- West Sioux Blow-out Alert!!!. West Sioux rolls.

Montezuma (6-3) vs #14 Maquoketa Valley, Delhi (7-2)-- Maquoketa Valley This will be a great game in my opinion. Maquoketa will rally in the end to pick up the win

Newman Catholic, Mason City (4-5) vs. #4 Denver (8-1)-- Denver Denver has no problems and win big

North-Linn, Troy Mills (4-5) vs. #7 Winfield-Mt. Union (9-0)-- Winfield-Mt. Union Winfield has been rolling all season and will not be stopped in this one

#16 St. Albert, Council Bluffs (6-3) vs. #15 Akron-Westfield (7-2)-- St. Albert. This is a pretty even match-up but history says to go with St. Albert's.

Woodbury Central, Moville (5-4) vs. #3 Logan-Magnolia (8-1)-- Logan-Magnolia Lo-Ma rolls here and all the way back to the dome

AGWSR, Ackley (4-5) vs. #2 Bishop Garrigan, Algona (9-0)
Garrigan - This will be a closer game than projected, Garrigan too many options in the end.

Bedford (6-3) vs. #8 Mount Ayr (7-2)
Mt Ayr - doubt Mt Ayr will be sleeping the first half this time around, look for this one to be 35 plus early.

#12 Belmond-Klemme (7-2) vs. #13 Pleasantville (8-1)
Belmond Klemme - one of the most hyped game in opening round of Class A. Sander plays and this one gets real exciting. Look for a 45-40 game. Meints can do it alone offensively, but needs Sander on defense against PVille. Sander plays......BK wins

Danville (3-6) vs. #1 B-G-M, Brooklyn (9-0)
BGM - over early as Danville does not have the horses to compete in this one.

Earlham (6-3) vs. Colfax-Mingo (7-2)
Colfax-Mingo - pass happy Colfax is good enough to get through this round.

East Buchanan, Winthrop (6-3) vs. #10 Gladbrook-Reinbeck (7-2)
Gladbrook Reinbeck - GR is GR and they get through this round without a big fight.

Grundy Center (5-4) vs. #11 West Hancock, Britt (7-2)
West Hancock - still a little beat up from Garrigan battle, but have the manpower to overcome an early lead for Grundy.

Lawton-Bronson (6-3) vs. #5 Audubon (8-1)
Audubon - just like West Hancock, will start slow but rolls through second half

Lone Tree (6-3) vs. Lisbon (7-2)
Lisbon - Lone Tree has lost by 40+ to Lisbon the last 2 years, this year is closer but still 30 plus.

Lynnville-Sully (6-3) vs. #9 Pekin (7-2)
Pekin - Good game, but Pekin holds on

Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto (5-4) vs. #6 West Sioux, Hawarden (9-0)
West Sioux - WS starts fast and keeps MVAO at a distance

Montezuma (6-3) vs #14 Maquoketa Valley, Delhi (7-2)
Montezuma - need an upset, and Monte is pissed after last week

Newman Catholic, Mason City (4-5) vs. #4 Denver (8-1)
Denver - again closer game than on paper as Newman is playing better, but not on Denver's level

North-Linn, Troy Mills (4-5) vs. #7 Winfield-Mt. Union (9-0)
WMU - Impressive win last Friday, keeps rolling against a better than their record, North Linn

#16 St. Albert, Council Bluffs (6-3) vs. #15 Akron-Westfield (7-2)
St Albert - Even matched teams, could go either way.

Woodbury Central, Moville (5-4) vs. #3 Logan-Magnolia (8-1)
LoMa - rolls pretty easily here.

I would agree, I think this will be a great game and likely the best matchup in the 1st round.

We're supposed to accept BCMoore rankings for playoff pairings, yet when BCMoore picks a team by 12 we all go with the underdog?

Although I believe the system has its flaws, I'll take Pleasantville in this one.
