I am still curious as the reason he was "forced" to resign.

From seeing the team over the course of many seasons i think the discipline on the team on game nights had something to be desired the last couple of years.

If you want to get the discipline back it can start with sportsmanship and respecting your opponents.

I hope who they next hire can come in and do a great job. I have to believe there is a lot of talent walking up and down the hallways of that school that could contribute to the football program

After two seasons as head coach of Des Moines Lincoln Railsplitters, Andy Campbell has stepped down. In his two seasons, he went 5-17.

This season in Class 4A District 3, the team finished 3-7 which was good enough to qualify for the IAHSAA playoffs.

Andy Campbell guided the team to the playoffs in 2014 for the first time since 2011. The Railsplitters last winning season came under head coach Tom Mihalovich in 2011 (9-2).

Andy Campbell's Record:
2014: 3-7 (Lost in the 1st Round)
2013: 2-7

I am sure there is only one name on the short list for a group of people on the south side, unfortunately I don't think they will get their wish, at least not while there is the same superintendent, principal and AD who fired him the first time.

That being said, I think Lincoln could be an attractive job with a lot of potential if the community would embrace their next coach and support them rather than have him live in the shadow of Mihalovich. Regardless of the way he went out I don't think he's coming back, I'd be surprised if they'd bring him back. Hopefully the next coach won't have to deal with the "politics" that Campbell went through

With the other assistants "resigning" with Campbell, one would think the next guy in will be an outsider much like Campbell. Is there anyone remaining on staff who would take the job? I would agree that the AD would not bring back Miholovich.

I played for Coach M and know that Mr Chia, the AD wasn't involved in getting rid of coach. I do agree about the superintendent and principal. They wouldn't want him back.

It's a real unfortunate situation and I think would make it more difficult to attract as many candidates for the job, especially with the comments from Coach Campbell in the DMR article, he made it seem like a very difficult job indeed.

It really is too bad IMO I feel that the Lincoln job really does have the potential to be a great coaching job and a location that could be competitive with the right coach. That will only happen if the entire southside community rallies around the program and the new coach. Whoever the next coach is going to be will have to stand and withstand some outside pressure and win games and hopefully the rest will fall into place, otherwise we may just see a coaching carousel of coaches coming and going and the program fall into more despair than it is at the moment.
