Thought I'd start a post where we can try to make a prediction for whatever district(s) you may be familiar with or care to share an opinion on. Predict who you think the champion will be and/or the 4 playoff teams.
I will start with District 8 since it's the main one that I'm familiar with:

Champion: Clarinda- they were the class of the district last year and I think they will reload, would not shock me to see Southeast Valley or East Sac here though if either gets hot.
2nd: Southeast Valley- I think they will be better this year and will have a big game week 9 @ Clarinda, possibly for the district championship. They return a lot of weapons.
3rd: East Sac- They return a ton but need to find a QB. If they do, look for them to challenge both Clarinda and Southeast Valley.
4th: Carroll Kuemper- They also return quite a bit and if they can find consistent QB play they will be tough for any team to beat.

Shenandoah and Red Oak will also both be improved from a year ago, but I do not see them getting into the playoffs, barring something major happening to one of top 4

DISTRICT 6 PREDICTION

1st - Union
2nd - South Tama
3rd - Aplington-Parkersburg
4th - South Hardin
5th - Iowa Falls
6th - Roland-Story
7th - East Marshall

Union and South Tama will again be the cream of this district. Both teams return underclassmen. In 2014 Union had a strong sophomore group with about 6 sophomore starters and in 2015 they will be a junior dominated team. Likewise, South Tama returns an experienced team that will only be stronger. In 2014 a close game went Union's way, and 2015 should be similar. The winner of the Union vs. South Tama game will win the district. A-P introduced a new offense, and another year with that experience will make them a stronger team. They gave Beckman everything they could handle in the first round of the 2014 playoffs. Like last year, there is a sharp drop-off after the Top 3 teams. South Hardin and Iowa Falls will battle it out for the 4th and final playoff spot from D6 and I'm giving the edge to South Hardin.

South Tama and Union could both be semifinal teams like NFV and Beckman were last year from the same district.

Responding to district 6 above, I would agree with the last post. Very tough district with two teams (Union and South Tama) that are dome worthy teams. After AP, watch out for Roland Story for the fourth spot. They have had three tough years but have good young talent and will be much improved this year.

I am a district 7 watcher and would rank that district as:

1. Albia. They have size, depth and speed and have a very talented senior class. This is their year to get it done.

2. CMB. Good skill talent. They will go as far as their revamped O-line takes them.

3/4. North Polk/PCM - flip a coin. Two teams that may be mirror images of each other and will both throw a ton. Above average receivers for both, and PCM has a proven QB, but the rest we shall see. NP has the fastest and most explosive player in the district.

5. Centerville. They really struggled last year but were very young and reportedly have a very strong incoming sophomore class so they should be improved.

6. Davis County. They have the best D-Lineman in the district but were very senior heavy last year.

7. Clarke. Opposite of Albia. Struggle with depth and size.

I would agree with Buck in that this is the year Albia could/maybe should get it done. They have been on the cusp the last few years, but they have some serious horses this year. Is interesting to look at the preseason rankings as they come out, because they kinda have Albia all over the board. I personally think they should be top 3 in 2A and are the definite favorite to get to the dome again from this part of the state. They were exposed at the dome last year by a much faster team (at least it appeared that way on tv as I watched the game). We'll see if they can finish it this year. I have a great deal of respect for Coach Staton and he is a proven winner.

I'll give my prediction for district 1.
1. CL/GLR
2. Spirit Lake
3. Sioux Center
4. MOC/FV
5. Sheldon
6. Okoboji
7. Cherokee

I think CL/GLR and SL are the favorites at this point. Sioux Center lost a lot, but I still think they will be better than maybe some people think. MOCFV will also be improved and will battle SC for 3rd. I can't say I know much about the other 3 so I don't have much info on them. I'm predicting CL/GLR and SL will be battling again in the playoffs for a trip to the dome. With that said I don't know what other district, D1 will be matched up with, and don't know what other districts have. CL/GLR have one of the toughest non-district schedules(West Lyon, Heelan, and RVBH) which I think will help them come playoff time. There's my two cents on D1. Can't wait til Friday night!!!
