D2 Gets Interesting

With Western's blow out of Hinton, D2 gets crazy:
Currently a 4-way tie for the lead:
Western Christian: 9.25 Hinton: 6.60 Ridgeview: 4.00 West Lyon: 3.00

Remaining (in order of toughness):
Hinton: Unity (needs help from RV)
West Lyon: @ RV, HMS (needs big win over RV)
Western: @ Unity, RV (same as WL. Their #1 spot to lose)
Ridgeview: WL, @Western (definitely could be the spoiler)

Opening round match-ups will be interesting. Do West Lyon and Hinton meet again in the opening round? Does Western play Ridge View again? The 125 mile rule leaves few options for D2 teams.

Am I wrong to say that West Lyon is for sure going to finish 4th in this district. (With win this week)? If so, this will then force a 4th vs 1st D2 game, because West Lyon will be outside of 125 miles to any other 1st place district team. Only place the state could fudge a little is if Pocahontas area (133 miles) would beat Saint Ansgar to win their district. Anybody see it different then that?

This is correct. I see West Lyon playing a very good Western Christian team opening round.

Ridge View is a good team. They took it to West Lyon. They won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

West Lyon will have to improve the effort and execution if they want to do anything in the playoffs.

Surprised by the Western-Ridgeview game.
Western shut down the Ridgeview offense until a final minutes score against the 2nd string.

I still think Western would rather play any other district's #4 than their own.
Will be a great rematch with West Lyon.

I don't see this meeting between western and wl being as interesting as the first. western has been playing well and wl has proven they are not near the team that wl has had over the years. wl is falling fast. I'll take western by 28+ they will throw all over wl.


The ridge view game should be a good one. Not sure how good avoca is but ridge view is a tough team. I'm taking ridge view to make a run. I think they will surprise a lot of people over the next week.

Hinton and emmetsburg is a good matchup for district 2. Hinton should be able to easily handle a average emmetsburg team. Hintons two studs will carry them for a few games.

I am extremely interested in D2 and how the progress in the playoffs. I am a Eastern Iowa guy and have seen almost all of the top teams over here play. Wishing I would have taken a road trip to NW Iowa.

D2 is truly an interesting district this year. I really wish these four teams could avoid playing each other in the first round but it is what it is. Hopefully D2 can represent!
