The big question is since West Hancock cant be a 1 to start off with and seeds hold true what pod do you put them in because they would face a 1 and another #1 would also be there, thats going to be a tough pod either way.
I think that the state will split them and Saint Ansgar up, it might be something like putting West Hancock with Wapsie and Starmont, and Saint Ansgar with Lisbon. Then you have Woodbury Central with Akron Westfield, and Madrid and AC/GC together.

Just an idea. I will say I am almost certain that if a #1 does go down, whom ever it might be, I think the state will make West Hancock the #2 that gets treated like a #1.

My guess is the following will be #1 in the following Pods.

NW - West Hancock
NE - St Ansgar
SE - Madrid
SW - Woodbury Central

BC moore has both # 1 Lisbon and # 2 Columbus Junction as underdogs in the first round vs North Linn and Maq Valley. If that happens that could really change things as far as where teams go. You listen to the West Hancock Pod above who yes those guys are homers but very good stat guys, they think they are staying west.

The only reason I don't think that they will is because I think the state will want to get Woodbury Central to the Dome. I think the state will try to get Saint Ansgar, West Hancock, Madrid, and Woodbury Central to the Dome. In order to do that you have to send them and Saint to the east but in separate pods.

So if you eliminate Lisbon and Columbus you have a ton of teams in NE Iowa right close to that Hwy 20 corridor. Who do you send where. Assuming the following teams, Wapsie, Starmont, East Buc, Maq Valley, North Linn, and then add Saint A and Nashua although would not surprise me to see Lake Mills beat Nashua.

Also got the feeling they prefer to go West not East

Lake mills will not beat Nashua.

If Lisbon and Columbus both lose I think you get

Madrid vs Central Decatur/Earlham
AC/GC vs Lynnville Sully

Woodbury Central vs MMC-RU vs K-P/RV winner
Akron Westfield vs LoMa

Saint Ansgar vs Maquoketa Valley
Starmont vs Nashua Plainfield

Wapsie vs North Linn
West Hancock vs East Buc

I think they will let a 1 vs 3 of the same district, but if they didn't want to they could sent Lynnville Sully to Starmont, Central Decatur to ACGC and Nashua Plainfield to Madrid. I could also see them sending West Hancock to Starmont with Wapsie.

I think you get

Madrid vs Central Decatur/Earlham
AC/GC vs Lynnville Sully

Woodbury Central vs MMC-RU vs K-P/RV winner
Akron Westfield vs LoMa

Saint Ansgar vs East Buc / Nashua Plainfield
Lisbon vs East Buc/Nashua Plainfield

I think East Buc is more deserving to play Lisbon but NP and Saint already played to I don't know if that would matter.

Wapsie vs Maq Valley
Starmont vs West Hancock

If Both Columbus and Lisbon win

Madrid vs Central Decatur/Earlham
AC/GC vs Lynnville Sully

Woodbury Central vs MMC-RU vs K-P/RV winner
Akron Westfield vs LoMa

Saint Ansgar vs East Buc / Nashua Plainfield
Lisbon vs East Buc/Nashua Plainfield

Wapsie vs Columbus
Starmont vs West Hancock

If Columbus wins but not Lisbon (which I think could happen)

Woodbury Central
AW

Madrid vs Earlham/ CD
AC/GC vs Lynnville Sully

Saint vs East Buc
Starmont vs Columbus

Wapsie vs North Linn
West Hanock vs Nashua Plainfield

These are just guesses

I think a lot depends on that Lisbon/North Linn game. If North Linn wins then I see

Akron Westfield
Woodbury Central

Wapsie Valley
West Hancock

St. Ansgar
 Starmont

ACGC
Madrid

If Lisbon wins I see

Akron-Westfield
West Hancock

Woodbury Central
ACGC

Madrid
Lisbon

St. Ansgar
Wapsie Valley/Starmont

I wouldn't say we prefer to go west, it just makes more sense geographically if all 1s and 2s win. The state association tends to stick to geography since they are paying out mileage. They make exceptions and we see crazy traveling but with $ involved, the boys in Boone tend to stick to geography.

They can not stick 3 district champs together so that can’t work for if Lisbon wins

Lake mills will not beat Nashua.
Gelner from Nashua went out in the game against Wapsie at the end of the first half. I believe he went to the hospital with a hand injury. That would be a big hit to Nashua if he is unable to play as he was a big part of their offense and defense and might sway the balance to Lake Mills.

If North Linn beats lisbon I think you have to send them to Saint A as they would basically be the lowest team going to the over all # 1 seed. I dont think it matters if it is a district rematch after the first round or if they have played each other before. Of all the 1s Lisbon is the most vulnerable with their draw but I think Starmont is the weakest of all the 1s if that makes sense. I dont think you pit St Anger vs East Buch and let Starmont or Wapsie play Nashua thats why I think if and thats an if D4 gets all 4 teams thru your going to see a rematch.

Money involved is the reason we have a 32 team playoff... ;) Boone loves it.

Never mind the people (coaches) who bitched and moaned that 16 wasn't enough.

There are 4 different playoff structures mostly because that's what the coaches want.

4th Place at 1st Place

Mount Ayr (4-4) at ACGC (8-0)
Tri-Center, Neola (3-5) vs. Akron-Westfield (7-1), at LeMars
North Linn (6-2) at Lisbon (8-0)
IKM-Manning (4-4) at Madrid (8-0)
Sibley-Ocheyedan (2-6) at Saint Ansgar (8-0)
North Butler (6-2) at Starmont (7-1)
Danville (4-4) at Wapsie Valley (7-1)
North Union (5-3) at Woodbury Central (8-0)

3rd Place at 2nd Place

Maquoketa Valley (6-2)
at Columbus Community (6-2)
Central Decatur (5-3) at Earlham (5-3)
South Winneshiek (5-3) at East Buchanan (6-2)
South Central Calhoun (5-3) at Logan-Magnolia (7-1)
Pekin (6-2) at Lynnville-Sully (7-1)
Kingsley-Pierson (6-2) at MMCRU (6-2)

Understand your point, but not really. 3A and 4A has it correct. Expand districts to 8 teams, take top two each district plus the next four out. 🤷‍♂️

My Picks:

4th Place at 1st Place

Mount Ayr (4-4) at ACGC (8-0)
Tri-Center, Neola (3-5) vs. Akron-Westfield (7-1), at LeMars
North Linn (6-2) at Lisbon (8-0)

Guess I'm taking a lot of the "dogs"
Seems to me a lot of good matchups round 1 (outside of the slaughter StA will give Sibley). Should be a lot of fun.

Im surprised your not taking Nashua over Lake Mills as thats the only D3 team you got losing and they are one of the better teams.

There is going to be a big upset round 1. A #1 seed is going to lose. Reality arrives.

No joke I flipped a coin on the North linn n Lisbon game. Also two other 1 seeds I couldn’t see losing and it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Also would you like to put your guesses up since you haven’t? Would love to see them.

Thoughts on likelihood of district 5 coming out with a win??? Or even close game?

Lisbon - North Linn - close and classic
Columbus - Maq Valley - I have no idea
Pekin - Lynnville - I think LS wins by 40
Danville - Wapsie - I’m thinking Wapsie rolls big too

Lisbon and Madrid are leading the pack as to potential #1 seed losers. Every year there are teams that are in pockets of scheduling that are a bit insulated. Not until you have some cross-over and they have to get out of their bubble do things start to float to the top. I scratch my head every year how poll voters miss on some of their votes but happens every year. Do not not know if it is because they fall in love with legacy programs or they just do not do the work and really research, compare, and contrast. May be 100% wrong on my part here but if I had to bet my own money on upsets most likely those would be my bets.

Feel like Lisbon and Columbus will come out with Ws tonight. Lisbon has great athletes across the board. Going to be a tough out for anyone. Columbus put it to Maquoketa Valley in the 1st round last year.

I like Pekin over Lynnville-Sully. Noun Harder and possibly QB Sieck out for the game will be tough for Lynnville. I think Lisbon has the beef up front to edge by North Linn in a low scoring game. Maq Valley couldn't stop the run against East Buc or Starmont, they arent' going to keep up with Columbus.

So it is true that Harder was hurt again last week?? Any word on what this Injury is and how long he is out?

Sibley ocheyden, sp? Is holding their own with st ansgar. St ansgar is up 10-0 at the half.
