Over the coming days I plan on posting my thoughts on the upcoming season for each of the classes. Class A is probably my favorite most years so I thought that I would start with it. This is just to get a little discussion going, and hear other people’s thoughts.

District 1

Favorite: MMCRU
Top Challenger: Gehlen

I think that MMCRU returns the most from a very solid team, but they do lose a pretty good QB. I think Gehlen is always solid and returns quite a bit from a team that seemed to improve as the season went on. After that I see A-A, A-W and S-O competing for the last 2 playoff spots, A-W lost quite a bit from last year’s district title team.

District 2

Favorite: Saint Ansgar
Top Challenger: West Hancock

I went back and forth for who to make the favorite, I see both of these teams as top 5 teams in the state, Saint maybe returns a little more, but I also think that West Hancock rebuilds year after year. After those two it is Lake Mills, the one question, I have about them is numbers as they didn’t seem to have very many out, and the Bacon kid will be a big loss. For the four spot I would probably go with Newman but it’s a toss-up.

District 3

Favorite: Wapsie Valley
Top Challenger: Nashua Plainfield

This is Wapsie’s district, I think they are a top 5 team in the state and shouldn’t be challenged in the district. After that I put NP as the top challenger, but I think there are 4 teams competing for 3 playoff spots. NP, NB, and SW all lost some important seniors, I think NP probably returns the most experience, although NB, SW, and NT all return their QBs. NT I believe lost by a touchdown or less in 4 games last year, but depth could be a big concern.

District 4

Favorite: Starmont
Top Challenger: Maquoketa Valley

This is a district where I think there are 5 teams competing for 4 playoff spots. I took Starmont as the favorite as I think they return the most, although the King kid that they lost was a great athlete. Maquoketa Valley lost the McShane kid which is a huge loss, but they started a bunch of sophomores last year, that is why I put them at two. East Buc is well coached, but Thurn, Bowers, and Fox powered that team last year. North Linn has been solid the last few years, but I think they take a step back, and Bellevue is always solid.

District 5

Favorite: Lisbon
Top Challenger: Pekin

I think Lisbon is the clear favorite in this district, and should roll to a district title, overall I think the district will be weak again. I put Pekin at 2 I think that they have the most questions answered going into the season for me. I see Columbus taking a step back with Amigon graduating but I still think that they are a playoff team. I would take Danville as a playoff team again, and am interested to see what they do in year to in their return to football.

District 6

Favorite: Madrid
Top Challenger: Mount Ayr

Mount Ayr is kind of the pick of a lot of people I have seen, and I will go with them as well, but I do think that this district is closer then many think. Mount Ayr returns just about everyone off of a very young team and as a program has made the dome in the past so they do have some pedigree and they could very easily jump up and win the district. I still think Lynnville Sully will be decent and a playoff team. For the last spot I see Central Decatur or North Mahaska. North Mahaska has been down for a while but seem to be returning some nice pieces as well.

District 7

Favorite: AC/GC
Top Challenger: Earlham

I think AC/GC is turning themselves into one of the most consistent programs in small school football in Iowa, the question is if they will take another step to the dome this year. Maybe a few questions on defense but I think a clear favorite. I took Earlham second as they are consistent and return quite a bit, but I could see them fall to 3 or 4 as well. After that I think that IKM and Riverside show the most returning so I would take them for the final two spots.

District 8

Favorite: Woodbury Central
Top Challenger: Logan Magnolia

I think that this is Woodbury Central’s district until someone really challenges them. They do lose a great quarterback but I think return enough for a runner up team to be the favorite. I took LoMa second because I think they return enough and are typically solid throughout the years. After that I don’t know who the final two spots will be. Are KP-RV going together after this year? If not, I could see that being a problem. Westwood, Tri Center and even Saint Albert could contend for playoff spots.

My Top 10

1. Saint Ansgar
2. AC/GC
3. Wapsie Valley
4. West Hancock
5. Woodbury Central
6. Madrid
7. MMCRU
8. Lisbon
9. Starmont
10. Mount Ayr

There is always a gap between the haves and have nots in Class A, but I think there is going to be more parity amongst the top teams this year.

For the four spot I would probably go with Newman but it’s a toss-up. St Anger loses top 3 rbs, top TE/WR and 8 of their top 9 tacklers on D but yes I still think it is a 2 team race

Wapsie loses a stud rb that had over a 1000 yds but return 3 others that combined for a 1000 yds. they do lose 2 receivers that have most of their catches. They lost some guys up front but overall this is probably a top 3 team returning in the state as they will for the most part be senior dominated. The rest of this district is up for grabs as new coach at NP.

This district every team seemed to lose some big time players but I think overall it is still the deepest district in the state. Starmont probably the early favorite but they lost some good guys up front on both sides of the ball and the King kid. I then think it is a 4 team race with MV, EB, NL and Bellevue for the other 3 spots. MV witch will have a new coach lost Mcshane a 2000 yd rusher and was basically their offense but probably just as big a loss is Salow who achord both side of the ball up front and had 80 tackles. EB lost some horse in Fox who is now at Iowa and Thurn but on defense they return most of their leading tacklers minus the 2 previously mentioned as they played a lot of young guys last year. Nl loses a lot of their skill kids and top tacklers on defense but they always seem to be in the mix.

Still probably the weakest district in the state but it is still Lisbons district and I think CJ still is big up front to move people to come in as the RU. The rest you can draw out of the hat.

North Mahaska has been down for a while but seem to be returning some nice pieces as well.

District 7

I think AC/GC is turning themselves into one of the most consistent programs in small school football in Iowa, the question is if they will take another step to the dome this year. Maybe a few questions on defense but I think a clear favorite. I took Earlham second as they are consistent and return quite a bit, but I could see them fall to 3 or 4 as well. After that I think that IKM and Riverside show the most returning so I would take them for the final two spots. AC/DC is my favorite to contend for the A title thats all im going to say

Same two teams battle it out every year as two totally opposite teams in style but this year im going to give the edge to LM as Woodburry has to replace a record setting QB.

My Top 10

1. Saint Ansgar ACGC
2. AC/GC WAPSIE
3. Wapsie Valley, STARMONT
4. West Hancock
5. Woodbury Central
6. Madrid
7. MMCRU
8. Lisbon
9. Starmont
10. Mount Ayr

There is always a gap between the haves and have nots in Class A, but I think there is going to be more parity amongst the top teams this year.

Changing of the guard type of year. Madrid still has their QB but lost some key players. BWH lost a lot of Smiths. EB will be better than some think even though Fox gone. Will see if Starmont can reload what they lost. SA may be down a notch but still a factor. Same for Lisbon. ACGC is building a good program overall and as stated may be building a reputation as most consistent program.

Woodbury Central went to the dome 4 times with 3 different qbs over the last 5 years. I think they will be fine finding someone to step up. They still have a lot of production and playmakers coming back on both sides of the ball. I think a top 3 team to start. May be more running this year as they have an all state caliber senior running back in Butler and their defense should be one of the best in class A this year. Played a lot of young kids kids last year, as only 5 seniors that played on both sides of ball. Not sure why they aren't being talked about as a "consistent program" now.

Feels like Woodbury Central may not be as dominant as anticipated. Madrid's QB was said to have missed week 1. West Hancock had a close one w/ Garner-Hayfield which usually is not the case. WH has dominated them by 4 scores or more for the last 3 years prior to this season. Lisbon and Saint Ans are question marks, but only because so early in the season. Same goes for ACGC. Clarity for some schools will come this week based on match-ups. Others that have game but in reality a week off will still be unknowns until they meet better competition. Believe there are 3 games on the schedule for tomorrow that are top 10 matchups.

District 1 is likely decided tonight, the rest of D1 should be fairly weak this year but there's always a surprise it seems. MMCRU had multiple key players out last week against Cherokee and I'm being told they are out another week yet.

There is also a chance that District 3 is decided tonight between South Winn and Wapsie. Nashua Plainfield probably has a say in that district race though, where no one else in district 2 has a say.

Wow, this place is a ghost town.

St. Ansgar is up 14-7 at the half. Both offenses are moving the ball at will. West Hancock had a holding penalty deep in St. Ansgars territory on their first drive that resulted in an interception inside the 5 on 4th down. St. Ansgar drove the length if the field to take a 14-0 lead. St ansgar chucked up a hail Mary on the final play of the 1st half that was nearly complete in the end zone

West hancock will get the ball to start the 2nd half. Both their kick returns in the 1st half made it to about midfield.

St. Ansgar has 218 yards of offense in the 1st half 92 of those through the air 56 on one play.

West hancock has 91 yards of offense, but both of their drives started at midfield. one scoring drive and one turnover inside the 10 on 4th.

St ansgar went up 20-7, missed a pat just to the right, now down 21-20 west hancock took the lead with 90 seconds left. With 3 seconds left st ansgar lined up for a 30 yard field goal attempt. West hancock timeout. Bad snap and low kick right into the line. West hancock holds on.

St ansgar controlled most of the game but as soon as west hancock learned they could get 5-8 yards a play running left, that is all they did.

West Hancock clearly ran the ball better than the Saints, however the Saints threw the ball much better and got some big plays through the air. All in all, a great game by both teams!!!

WH going to win another title? Who are the top 4 that you think will rep the quadrants of the state for semis?

Here is what I have after 2 weeks of district play

District 1
Gehlen should win it with their victory over MMC-RU, I still think MMC-RU is the second best team (maybe the best with the whole team), and then Sibley and HMS have put themselves in the best position to make the playoffs.

Distric 2
West Hancock will win it, and Saint will be second. After that Newman is in the best spot, for the 4th spot it probably comes down to the winner of Lake Mills and Belmond Klemme.

District 3
I like Wapsie to win it, I think it is either NP or South Winn for 2 and 3, and then North Butler or North Tama for the last spot.

District 4
I think the 4 playoff spots are kind of spoken for with North Linn, Starmont, Maquoketa Valley and Bellevue, although if Starmont is without their two best backs against East Buc (who is also very banged up) maybe that could change something. Right now I would say North Linn or Maquoketa Valley is the favorite.

District 5
Lisbon and Pekin is going to be 1 and 2, I still think Columbus is 3 and I think Danville is 4

District 6
Looking like Madrid vs Lynnville Sully for the title, Mount Ayr and a surprising North Mahaska for the other two spots.

District 7
ACGC appears to already have won the district, I think Earlham ends up second, after that Riverside is in a good spot with a win over SCC, and IKM Manning or SCC for the forth spot. IKM-M could get to the 3.

District 8
Woodbury Central is probably going to be the champ, Westwood or Kingsley Pierson for the 2 spot, and LoMa or St. Albert for the 4 spot.

My guess for playoffs right now

Woodbury Central vs SCC

Gehlen vs LoMa

West Hancock vs HMS

Wapsie vs Danville

Maquoketa Valley vs North Butler

Lisbon vs Bellevue

Madrid vs Lake Mills

ACGC vs North Mahaska

Westwood vs Riverside

MMCRU vs Newman

Saint Ansgar vs Sibley-O

NP vs Starmont

North Linn vs South Winn

Pekin vs Mount Ayr

Lynnville Sully vs Columbus

Earlham vs Kingsley Pierson

My guess for Top 4 Right now would probably be

West Hancock

Woodbury Central

Lisbon

ACGC

Good stuff.

Lisbon / Pekin is an interesting one. More so to get clarity on Pekin.

Feels like the class overall has a rather stark characteristic of being very top-heavy. As of right now it could be argued that there are 2 … possibly 3 … teams that have a chance at the title.

Big drop off after those. But that is just an opinion and could be very very wrong. Will see how it plays out!

Personally I think Class A is about as wide open as it has been in close to 10 years. Last year I thought that there were 3 legitimate teams that could win the title.

This year I really think there are 10-12 teams that if things break right could win the title, now that number will decrease a bit by the end of the regular season as we learn more about teams, like your example of Pekin, I think that they are a good team, but can they compete with the top teams, we will find out after this week. I still think we will go into the playoffs with 6-8 teams with a legitimate chance at the title.

WH going to win another title? Who are the top 4 that you think will rep the quadrants of the state for semis?
Hard to say for sure. I don't follow much outside of north central iowa. I would give the edge to West Hancock over st ansgar to get to the dome, if they get put in the same quad that is, but certainly wouldn't bet the farm on that. Tonight will tell is a lot about good Nashua is as they travel to St. Ansgar. NP is 4-0 but only have played one game against a +.500 opponent.

Yup, and it looks like Wapsie had a player ejected late in the game on a 2nd UC penalty.
I found the game on the YouTube. He was ejected with 2:42 left. There was a face mask on the play, wapsi coach walked onto the field earning him a sideline warning, this didnt seem to please the wapsie player and he was jawing so they threw an unsportmanlike flag on him, that didn't seem to please him any more, so he continued to jaw at the official and immediately got his second.

Will he need to sit out the 1st half next week or is that only a thing in college?

Here is my update

District 1
I really don't see any way that district 1 doesn't finish in this order.
1. Gehlen
2. MMC-RU
3. Sibley-Ocheyedan
4. HMS

District 2
Just like last week, West Hancock will win it Saint will finish 2nd and they had a convincing win over NP, Newman has beaten the right teams to finish 3rd and then the Lake Mills vs Belmond Klemme game this week should determine the 4th spot, especially if Lake Mills wins.
1. West Hancock
2. Saint Ansgar
3. Newman
4. Lake Mills

District 3
North Tama beating Wapsie makes this district a little messier. It is still 5 teams fighting for 4 spots, I could see a lot of things happening, but I do see North Butler probably being the team that doesn't make it.
1. Wapsie
2. Nashua Plainfield
3. North Tama
4. South Winn

District 4
Same thing as last week, I think Maq Valley and Bellevue are officially in, but really all four of these teams are. I think that the top 3 are ahead of Bellevue, but we get a chance to see this week as MV and Bellevue play, then the last two weeks all of the matchups are these teams.
1. North Linn
2. Maquoketa Valley
3. Starmont
4. Bellevue

District 5
Lisbon won the district title on Friday, Columbus and Danville will determine 3/4 the last game of the season.
1. Lisbon
2. Pekin
3. Columbus
4. Danville

District 6
Madrid with another non district slip up, but still will win the district, I like Mount Ayr a little better than L-S right now, NM vs Wayne for the 4 spot this Friday.
1. Madrid
2. Mount Ayr
3. Lynnville Sully
4. North Mahaska

District 7
AC/GC has the district wrapped up, I think Earlham beats Riverside for 2nd and I think SCC has more or less wrapped up #4
1. AC/GC
2. Earlham
3. Riverside
4. SCC

District 8
I still think Woodbury Central wins the district although they haven't looked quite as good, Tri Center has been playing well, and I think Saint Albert and Westwood round out the playoff qualifiers, but Kingsley Pierson and LoMa still have a shot.
1. Woodbury Central
2. Tri Center
3. Saint Albert

Top 4 Prediction this week (at the end of the year)
1. West Hancock
2. ACGC
3. Lisbon
4. North Linn

If it is this then their would be some interesting 2nd and 3rd round pairings.

Has to sit out a full game in high school

I think you need to insert Saint Ansgar ahead of both Lisbon and NL as they had WH beat at west Hancock and gave up a late score. I'm not sold on Lisbon because that district is weak and it showed last year as Lisbon was undefeated and a top 5 ranked team but got hammered in the second rd of the playoffs. Keep an eye on Earlham a very close loss to what I think is the # 1 team in ACGC on the rd. My sleeper team Riverside they lost a high scoring game 50 - 42 to ACGC and only other loss was to 1A AHSTW. North Linn is undefeated but they haven't really played anyone tough compared to a few others until maybe week 8 vs Maq Valley.
My top 4 teams I think come from 2 districts, 7 and 2
ACGC
West Hancock
ST Ansgar
Earlham
Lisbon
North Linn

I don't disagree with your at all, but I would be willing to bet if Lisbon and North Linn both finish undefeated the state will reward that and move them ahead of Saint Ansgar.

If those were the matchups I think we would get (I know I am wrong because I go chalk)

Gehlen
West Hancock
Wapsie
North Linn
Lisbon
Madrid
AC/GC
Woodbury Central
MMC-RU
Saint Ansgar
Nashua Plainfield
Maquoketa Valley
Pekin
Mount Ayr
Earlham
Tri Center

Gehlen vs Tri Center
West Hancock vs Nashua Plainfield

Wapsie vs Saint Ansgar
North Linn vs Pekin

Lisbon vs. Maquoketa Valley
Madrid vs Earlham

AC/GC vs. Mount Ayr
Woodbury Central vs. MMCRU

District 7 is loaded it appears. Madrid losing to Earlham was shocker. Earlham's win reinforces my "loaded" comment on D7. ACGC turned the ball over 5 times against Earlham per GoBound game stats. The sleeper pick of Riverside seems a legit take.

Tri-Center is the intriguing team for me. They have a good portfolio of wins. Feels like to me everyone is sleeping on them. Probably due to last year's record. Hard to argue with what they have done this year is anything but strong.

I do also wonder if Madrid is as good as everyone thought, they brought back their QB, but not much else from last year.

Predicted Top 4 (at the end) and if they win out

West Hancock
AC/GC
Lisbon
North Liinn

These are your 4 Dome teams or 4 #1 seeds for pods? People are not giving St Ansgar enough credit as they are top 3 in just about every poll but Iowa Preps and the Gazzett. They will be in the Dome as they are one of my locks. I have Maq Valley beating North Linn this week and it would not be an upset as they have more than enough skill players to match NL but are more physical up front on both sides. I think whoever is the 3rd team in this district either MV, NL or Starmont is going to be a very tough out for another districts runner up.

My four pod seeds West Hancock, ACGC, ST Ansger and Lisbon but I think Earlham is better than Lisbon and I also think NL is better than Lisbon

Those are who I think will be ranked in the top 4 by the state after the regular season if they keep winning. I think they will split up West Hancock and St. Ansgar just like they did last year, but would give the undefeated district champ the home game in the quarters (which is now determined by rankings).

I truly don't know who I like for the dome, as I have said before I think class A is very open this year, and if a team has a off night or a very good night there are a bunch of teams that I think can win in the round of 16 or quarterfinals.

The states rankings to witch they use are currently
1 West Hancock
2 ACGC
3 ST Ansgar
4 Lisbon.
5 North Linn
6 Earlham

I don't see the top 4 teams losing again in the regular season and I see the top 3 teams as # 1 in the pods of 4. I m not completely sold on Lisbon getting by a 2 seed in the second round if they happen to matchup with someone like a Maq Valley or North Linn or even possibly a Wapsie valley. Earlham has a huge game this week with Riverside and if they win that and as I predict Maq Valley will beat North Linn this week I think they move up right along side Lisbon.

Quarterfinals:

If the two teams played in the regular season, head-to-head competition between the two teams will determine the home school with the winner of the head-to-head competition being the home team.

If the two teams did not play in the regular season, the highest ranked team in the IHSAA rankings will be the home team.

If two teams did not play in the regular season and both are unranked, the team with the higher finish in their respective district according to district qualification procedure will be the home team.

If the two teams paired have the same district finish, did not play in the regular season and are both unranked, the team with the fewest number of district losses will be the home team.

If the two teams paired have the same district finish, did not play in the regular season, are unranked and have the same number of district losses, the home school will be determined by the alphabetical system and the school listed LAST alphabetically will be the home team in 20

Realistically the games remaining that have an impact on the rankings are.

AC/GC vs Mount Ayr: I would pick AC/GC but is possible for Mount Ayr to win
North Linn vs Maq Valley: If North Linn wins they take the district title, Maq Valley after a puzzling loss to Cascade has looked very good.
Riverside vs Earlham: Everyone loves Earlham, but I think Riverside could get them.
Tri Center vs Woodbury Central: Tri Center has looked better than Woodbury but Woodbury has the big game experience.
Starmont vs Bellevue: I think Starmont is the better team, but did not look good against Postville, so it could be a toss up.

Next Week
Maq Valley vs Starmont: I think the top 3 in this district are pretty close.
North Linn vs. Bellevue: Again I think that Bellevue is a little behind, but who knows.

So I think West Hancock is safe at 1, if AC/GC takes care of business I think they are a safe #2, Saint probably wants North Linn to lose, just so they don't jump two undefeated district champs above them. A team like Maq Valley who isn't ranked could make a big jump if they take care of business the next two weeks against two ranked teams.

If I had to make second round playoff predictions I think I would go with this

Pod 1
West Hancock vs Nashua Plainfield
Gehlen vs Woodbury Central
Pod 2
AC/GC vs Mount Ayr
Tri Center vs MMC-RU
Pod 3
Lisbon vs. Maq Valley
Earlham vs. Madrid
Pod 4
North Linn vs Pekin
Saint Ansgar vs Wapsie Valley

I don't like that there are 3 rematches, but I could see something like this

I have posted before and will again. I think everyone is sleeping in Tri-Center.

There is more than a good chance TC beats WC comfortably.

It is so hard to know and compare, but I have a hunch.

I don't believe there is any way that this isn't the way the district finishes.

District 2

4. Lake Mills

Even though Newman lost to North Union, they will be the #3 and Lake Mills the #4

District 3
1. Wapsie
2. South Winn
3. North Tama
4. Nashua Plainfield

North Butler taking down NP last night made this district a lot more interesting. Here is the break down.

Nashua Plainfield 4-1 +35

Wapsie Valley 4-1 +59

North Tama 4-2 +35

South Winn 3-2 +24

Wapsie vs Nashua Plainfield Winner is the Champ

Wapsie is currently +59 NP +35

South Winn Should finish at 4-2 +41

North Tama finishes 4-2 +35

If NP wins Wapsie finishes second no matter what, if Wapsie wins it is probably my prediction unless South Winn doesn't beat BCL-UW and win by 17.

District 4
1. Maquoketa Valley
2. North Linn
3. Bellevue
4. Starmont

Maquoketa Valley is the district champ, North Linn vs Bellevue winner is 2nd and Starmont is 4th.

The top are set, Columbus vs Danville for 3/4 I'll take Columbus is that one. No changes in these predictions.

District 8
1. Tri Center
2. Woodbury Central
3. LoMa
4. St. Albert

St. Albert vs Westwood for the 4th and final spot this week, I believe the final 3 are set unless Kingsley Pierson beats Tri Center, which could move the St. Albert vs Westwood winner to #3 and St. Albert to #4 based on points.

Matchup Predictions

Gehlen vs SCC
West Hanock vs HMS
Wapsie Valley vs Starmont
Maquoketa Valley vs Danville
Lisbon vs Nashua Plainfield

MMC-RU vs Neman
Saint Ansgar vs North Tama
South Winn vs Bellevue
North Linn vs Columbus
Pekin vs Lynnville Sully
Mount Ayr vs Earlham
Riverside vs LoMa
Woodbury Central vs Sibley-Ocheyedan

Really other than Wayne at Tri Center these are all pretty reasonable and honestly Wayne is in the middle of nowhere. But you could go with Saint Albert to Madrid, Lake Mills to Wapsie, Starmont to Lisbon, Nashua Plainfield to West Hancock and HMS to Tri Center and then Wayne to AC/GC if you wanted to, but I think the overall travel is worse with that.

Predicted top 4 after next week
1 West Hancock
2. AC/GC
3. Saint Ansgar
4. Lisbon

My predicted pods would be

(1)West Hancock vs MMC-RU
(6)Gehlen vs (9)Riverside

(2)AC/GC vs Woodbury Central
(5)Tri Center vs Earlham

(3)Saint Ansgar vs Wapsie Valley
(8)Madrid vs (10)Pekin

(4) Lisbon vs North Linn
(7)Maquoketa Valley vs South Winn

These aren't perfect rankings wise or geographically, but kind of a balance, it was also surprising to me that Pekin is closer to Madrid then Maquoketa Valley, it's kind of on an island of the probable schools for the last 16.

Pekin vs Lynnville Sully
Mount Ayr vs Earlham
Riverside vs LoMa
Woodbury Central vs Sibley-Ocheyedan

Really other than Wayne at Tri Center these are all pretty reasonable and honestly Wayne is in the middle of nowhere. But you could go with Saint Albert to Madrid, Lake Mills to Wapsie, Starmont to Lisbon, Nashua Plainfield to West Hancock and HMS to Tri Center and then Wayne to AC/GC if you wanted to, but I think the overall travel is worse with that.

Predicted top 4 after next week
1 West Hancock
2. AC/GC
3. Saint Ansgar
4. Lisbon

My predicted pods would be

(1)West Hancock vs MMC-RU
(6)Gehlen vs (9)Riverside

(2)AC/GC vs Woodbury Central
(5)Tri Center vs Earlham

(3)Saint Ansgar vs Wapsie Valley
(8)Madrid vs (10)Pekin

(4) Lisbon vs North Linn
(7)Maquoketa Valley vs South Winn

These aren't perfect rankings wise or geographically, but kind of a balance, it was also surprising to me that Pekin is closer to Madrid then Maquoketa Valley, it's kind of on an island of the probable schools for the last 16.
I think your Wapsie Saint Ansgar Madrid n Pekin pod is a little off the mark. The travel times just don’t make sense

I don’t disagree with you at all, but when two of the top four are going to come from the same district you’re going to have some added travel.

Updated for this week

District 1
1. Gehlen
2. MMC-RU
3. Sibley-Ocheyedan
4. HMS

I don't believe there is any way that this isn't the way the district finishes.

District 2
1. West Hancock
2. Saint Ansgar
3. Newman
4. Lake Mills

Even though Newman lost to North Union, they will be the #3 and Lake Mills the #4

District 3
1. Wapsie
2. South Winn
3. North Tama
4. Nashua Plainfield

North Butler taking down NP last night made this district a lot more interesting. Here is the break down.

Nashua Plainfield 4-1 +35

Wapsie Valley 4-1 +59

North Tama 4-2 +35

South Winn 3-2 +24

Wapsie vs Nashua Plainfield Winner is the Champ

Wapsie is currently +59 NP +35

South Winn Should finish at 4-2 +41

North Tama finishes 4-2 +35

If NP wins Wapsie finishes second no matter what, if Wapsie wins it is probably my prediction unless South Winn doesn't beat BCL-UW and win by 17.

District 4
1. Maquoketa Valley
2. North Linn
3. Bellevue
4. Starmont

Maquoketa Valley is the district champ, North Linn vs Bellevue winner is 2nd and Starmont is 4th.

District 5
1. Lisbon
2. Pekin
3. Columbus
4. Danville

The top are set, Columbus vs Danville for 3/4 I'll take Columbus is that one. No changes in these predictions.

District 6
1. Madrid
2. Mount Ayr
3. Lynnville Sully
4. Wayne

These are set

District 7
1. AC/CG
2. Riverside
3. Earlham
4. SCC

It is actually Earlham vs SCC for 3/4 now

District 8
1. Tri Center

I think you flip Maq Valley and Madrid, Lisbon is by far the weakest of the 4 seeds and I think Madrid is a better and tougher team than MV. The top 3 teams are heads and tales better than all the rest and it isnt even close.
