Not saying he isn't a good solid player. But would Mepo be where they are with out him? I think they probably whould be. But say you take the Barnett kid from Central Lee, or the Williams kid or Hosettler from WB/ND I don't think they would of have had the seasons or be where they are without them.

Are you saying you can't be the best player in a district if you are on a great team? I don't know your district, but what would happen if you put this Halloway kid on Central Lee or WB? More than likely he would still be a stud?

In same district as mepo. And the Holloway kid is a open enroll from WB to mepo. And to say they are a great team is a stretch. They are a good solid team but great no not really.: They were taken to the mat in their last two games.

with Hollaway's strength and speed he would be a impact player on any team in the state I think he's a D-1 kid, kids that bench 340 lbs and squat 600 and can move are D-1 kids but maybe he's going to Wrestle at that level? all I know is he's a very good looking athlete

What does his open enrollment have to do with anything? He's been at Mepo his whole high school career.

And where would Mepo be without him? They would have lost to West Burlington and Mid-Prairie without him. They lost to Albia and missed the dome last year because he didn't play in the quarterfinal game. Based on his offensive and defensive contributions I would say he's the best.

I would agree Mepo. He is in on a majority of the tackles, many of which are solo. He blocked the xtra point and a late punt in the MidPrairie game. When yardage is needed, he gets the ball and always gets yard after contact. There are several good athletes in D5, but Holloway is the best. His balance, strength and endurance are the difference. Wrede is the best player at WBND, not either of the Williams.

Never ever said he wasn't a good solid player. Matter of fact he has been ever since Pee Wee football. And his may well be one of the best if not the best. But you take Williams away on offence let alone his special team play where would WB/ND be? If there is a stat for this and there isn't. Most of the teams that they faced would not kick to him on kickoffs punts. And as to the open enrollment thing it no biggie just sayin. Holloway helluva wrestler and WB/ND/DANVILLE hasn't got the program a kid like he needs.

Orsky1, I would agree that Wrede is more important to WB than either Williams. Heck Williams may not even be the best kick/punt returner in the district. Teams don't kick to Osborne of Mediapolis either. And he's had at least 2 called back on penalties. Here's the comparison.

Williams: 25 returns for 593 yards and 1 TD, avg 23.72 ypr

Osborne: 19 returns for 578 yards and 3 TD's, avg 30.42 ypr

they are both dangerous to kick to.

You know neither one should be worth a damm with out the other ten kids on the field. And as to kick returns how did Xavior Williams do when he got a kick he could return. He picked it up ran between two of your Dawgs and returned it for six. And he to has had returns called back. So I guess I will defer to the obvious greatness of anything Mepo and bow my head in shame. But before I go Xavior Williams I will is by far the more compete athlete. Given football, basketball, track, and baseball. So I defer to the great MepoDawg# and the awesome Orskey1. Live long and prosper.

We aren't talking about all of the other sports, even though Holloway is a state wrestling champion, we're talking about football. And with regard to football, Holloway is the better player. I watched WBND 3 times this year, and your best player is Wrede. I'm done with the comparison because you are to biased to be objective.

I never said Williams was the best player. I just don't that that Holloway is the best. I have always said he is a good solid player. I just said they would still be in playoffs with out him. And as to Wrede being the best there is some question there too. He tends to get happy feet. I would say Steven is the best on the Mepo team. And did say he was a helluva wrestler. Just like Williams is a heck of a all around player. And I wish Mepo and Steven the best of luck. But if for some strange reason they meet again this year Mepos luck would run out.

As for punt and kickoff returns for district games only Osborn 13 returns for 318 yards for 24.46 avg. and Williams 18 returns for 409 yards for a 22.72 avg.

In D6 I'll go with Isaiah Vaughn for Union. Only a sophomore, but #3 in 2A in rushing yards (almost 10 yards/carry) despite not playing in week 9.

Completely agree with Rozeboom in district 1. Sioux Center has quite a few athletes on that team, but Rozeboom is the best by far on the team and in the district.

Isaacson might not even be the best player on his team. Only reason he gets attention is because he has over 220 carries this season. Look at the state leaderboard. There are around 25 guys ahead of him in yardage with less carries. Curious, I did a little exploring. In class 2A, I looked at backs with over 50 carries. Isaacson is 31st in terms of ypc. Don't get me wrong, he is a good player. It is just that his numbers are exaggerated, especially when he was left in during "scrub time, " Treynor and Riverside are good examples. Also, I don't even think plays defense either. If you have a kid that is your rock as an athlete, wouldn't he be a good option to put in on defense?

Like I said, good player but not the best in the district. There are a couple East Sac, Clarinda (with the state's best rushing attack, there is quite the choosing), and SEV guys that could be put in there. I think I would even choose Jansky over Isaacson.

Argument could be made for Coover. Valquier gets in on a lot of plays, but most of it is due to a breakdown and he is a beneficiary that saves the play. No big arguments though. The Isaacson thing has just been driving me nuts the last 4 or 5 weeks.

Yes I agree about him. Honestly I was not very impressed by him and he never really had a good game against any of the top teams in the district. They just always left him in against other teams' JV units and that's where he got big yards along with when they played the average to below average teams. I just put him up here because he led the district in yards, but in reality there are at least 3 or 4 other backs in the district who are better than him IMO.

If you're his dad then going on a big rant like this isn't going to change people's minds or help recruiting or whatever you're trying to do here. Bottom line is he is a good running back but I could easily name 5 RB's that were better than him in that district. He is on a team that needs to give him the ball constantly and kept him in against other teams' JV units late in games. Treynor and Riverside were terrible this season. And I guarantee teams don't care about holding him under 100 yards when they are up big in the 2nd half, they care about winning and getting their young kids some experience.

And I wouldn't get cocky about Clarinda. I'm not from there but looking at their roster and stats they will reload and be solid again next year.

Ike best thing to do is delete your comment, no winners in an internet spat. I understand your intension but in the end you just put a bad light on your son's fine season. As for everyone else please understand how comments can be taken personal when they land in your living room.

I'll throw a mention in there for Tyler Duster, A-P in D6.MVP candidate on both sides of the ball. Plays all over the field, really shined on an average team.
