Best Player in 2A?

Carter Isley or Jerry Lowe, probably give it to Isley since he goes both ways, were as Lowe doesn't.

Both Isley and Lowe are good choices. I have seen both play and have seen Isley on two occasions. Both have great talent around them also,- probably the best two teams in class 2A.

Just going by quick stats I suppose these guys should be included because they are leading the major categories. I wish they had a lineman stat so they could be on the list.

Max Karpinske North Polk leads in Passing yds
Koby Johnston Tipton leads in rushing
Kurt Trum Cascade leads in recieving
Luke Shipley West Burlington leads in tackles.

The Williams kid from WBND ain't bad. Stats down somewhat but that could be due to QB not being the passer that last years QB was. And he is a damn fine multi sport athlete too.

great athlete but takes too many plays "off" for me. Once you are bit physical with Xavier, he slows down tremendously. I would take him on my squad though. From the WBND roster, nobody I would rather have than Trousil. Nice kid, tremendous athlete, and have heard he is extremely coach-able

Hey WBBearsFollower he has been know to take a play off from time to time. But everybody does from time to time. And he doesn't slow down it seems that way to you he will give it as much as he gets it too. And Isaiah is a great kid too. But if you think he is soft than you haven't seen him play basketball.

I have to disagree. Although Williams has tremendous athleticism he isn't the best player on his team. Football is not his sport and the stats aren't down because of the QB. He isn't anywhere near this list and wouldn't be in the top 100 in 2A.

ORSKY1 think you to pee in a cup. Ferguson is no where near the QB that Wrede was. Check this site rankings on Williams. He has about three or four offers in hand right now. For D1A schools right now. So I guess your right he sucks. Oh and I believe he has last years team MVP award.

I'm not going to come on here and list all the reasons why he isn't anywhere near this list. I've seen him play three times this year and football isn't his game. Great athlete, not a great football player. He can't play at a D1A program and wouldn't see the field. Maybe a D3 but I think he would get exposed very quickly even there.

Well ORSKY1 better let Western, Illinois State, UNI, South and North Dakota know of your expertise so they quit wasting their time and money one him OK.

Probably the biggest overstatement I've seen in a while. Not Top 100? Really? He may or may not be the best player on his team, but that's only because Isaiah Trousil is a pretty good player himself. Not the best defender, but as an athlete and offensive weapon, I would take Xavier Williams on any team I'm associated with. Good hands, speed, cutting, and throwing. What more could you want? Is he the toughest kid? No, but neither was Barry Sanders.

Check out his stats from their last game. 600 all-purpose yards?? Granted, it was against West Liberty, but imagine if he'd been playing QB all year.

That said, my vote for best would still go to Harris and his 175 division I scholarship offers

Not top 100? Come on orsky you have been a credible blogger on this forum for a while now. I think you are off on this one. He had like 500 yds last game. How many athletes even have that capability in class 2A? Has to be just a handfull that have that capability. I'm not arguing he is the best in 2A I think it is hard to come up with just 1 name as the best.
For all we know the best player in 2A might be some lineman that doesn't have stats to compare. But this kid has to be up there on the list somewhere.

I appreciate everyone's concern for my perspective. What I'm talking about though is the ability to play the game as a full time player instead of in some specialty role. If he isn't concerned about the talent of another opponent he will step up and make some highlight reel plays. His ability to influence the game against a well coached opponent is less likely. Tremendous athlete, not a great football player. It's just my opinion, but he gets to much accolade for the real player he is. Not the player he could be, just the player he is.

Did you pee in that cup yet ORSKY1. And not even every so called 5 star studs make it either. It is a crap shoot with these KIDS. After all they are just kids. As long as tge kids use these years to get a good quality education right.

Kurt Trumm for Cascade is a damn fine player. 26 catches for 926 yards (leads 2a) and 11 TD's (2nd in 2a) thru 7 games and 2 games were in very heavy rain where Cascade could not pass at all. He also leads his team in tackles with 47 and has 2 interceptions. Kurt is a fine 4 sport athlete who excels in track as a 400/400 lows runner.

I think Ko Kieft from Sioux Center should definitely be in this conversation. Stud LB and a good QB too, as he is leading 2A in yards. I was surprised to see how close Sioux Center played Spirit Lake after all the talent Sioux Center graduated last year. I think Kieft is one of the most valuable players in 2A.

Third best player in the game last night, possibly fourth if you consider the D end for WBND

Somebody who doesn't get any attention is Ethan Barnet from Central Lee he is a heck of a player. On both sides of the ball. And ORSKY1 your a fool.

Sorry roger that would be "you're" but as to my opinion, I'll stick with what I see. I think your bias is in play.

Make sure you share your brilliance with the numerous rather successful D1a college coaches that have already offered him scholarships. I am sure they don't know how to evaluate talent like you can. And if you check on this site you will find that they rate Williams quite well in football, basketball, baseball, and he also does rather well in track too. And you are correct I used the wrong your.

Some of the discussion is based on the criteria you are using. If D1 offers is the measuring stick then it isn't close. Player who most helps his team or gives them the best chance to win could be different. Also this bumps the 'prowler sled' down

cidhawkeye one would assume that a coach would not play people whom he did not think provided his team the best chance to win. But I also understand what assume translates too.

Link to recruiting profile or offer list?

No doubt he's a great athlete. Never even implied he wasn't. I'm just commenting on his football skills.

Agreed, my reference was that some players are more valuable to the team in their pursuit of winning, several factors go into that could be who their back up is, how they match up with other teams personnel etc. It is often times a moving target.
