Not sure how this was confirmed, North Scott vs Sterling IL (11-1) last year in IL 5A, this is one of the exciting things that can result from IA allowing out of state match ups.
Most IL schools have their schedules set a year in advance with perhaps a couple open dates to fill. It's yet another sign of how behind the times the boys association is in how they do the scheduling and not at all fair to potential out-of-state opponents that schools have to wait for the association to release schedules in March. This process has become a flat-out disgrace.
South Sioux City out of Nebraska has their schedule out. They play North and West out of SC Iowa. So Nebraska is ahead of Iowa in terms of getting the schedule out. https://sscfootball.weebly.com/2020-schedule.html
In a normal year, without the changes that were made to placate the folks beating the "competitive balance" drum, we'd already know the 2020 AND 2021 schedules -- i.e., "a year in advance."
Well, they certainly attempted to balance the schedule based on the previously identified tiers. Not many patsys on those tier 1 schedules, if you come through undefeated, you’ve accomplished something!
Some 2a schools draw several 1a schools for no district games. While others draw several 3a schools for non district games. No weighted scale either way, doesn't make much sense
While I agree with that, 1A teams like West Lyon, DNH, West Sioux, etc that played 2A schools are better than 3A teams like Perry and South Tama so there is no perfect way of doing it.
