Sumner would have to go to Emmetsburg. Don't care about rankings, it is about district finish. Everyone thinks SF is going to have home games but they have to go on the road to the dome. They still may win them, but it will not be at home.
Plus I think SK and WC would go into Pod D and MFL and Wilton go to C.

UPDATED PROJECTIONS:

A

2 Underwood
OABCIG
8 Treynor
AHSTW

B

1 Grundy Center
Emmetsburg
7 Columbus
Pella Christian

C

6 SK
9 South Hamilton
3 Sumner
West Branch

D

4 MFL
5 Regina
10 Dike
Wilton

***Underwood gets a free ride because of geography.

***South Hamilton and Emmetsburg will be split up. Otherwise, the state gives them an easier road than the east side district winners.

***Pod C and D are the "death pods"
***Pod B would set up a District 4 rematch for a trip to the Dome.
***Pod D: Regina v Dike could be interesting if rain forecast holds up.
***Pod C: SK and WB might finish in 45 minutes. Cobras spin the back all night. Bears just finished up a game in which they rushed for 400 yards (3 players over 100 yards).

We shall see.

I think your prediction is pretty good, I don’t see the state sending WB to Grundy Center or SK and Waterloo Columbus.

Looks like SF's QB is still out. Pod 3 would still be tough, but that will factor in on SF's run to the dome.

I think the only thing we can probably "guarantee" for the next hour is pod 1. They are kind of on an island unless they want NW to go play someone like Grundy and then put SH in with Underwood, but I doubt that happens.

my guesses

Pod A
OABCIG vs treynor
Emmetsburg vs DNH

Pod B
South Hamilton vs Pella Christian
Underwood vs Ahstw

Pod C
Regina vs Wilton
Sig Keota vs West Branch

Pod D
Grundy Center vs Columbus
MFL vs Sumner Fred

I could see Wilton and Columbus switch spots also

We’ll see in a few minutes but they’re not gonna out three of the top four ranked teams in one pod

WB at MFL rematch. I’m sure MFL will be looking for revenge. Making the Wilton at Regina rematch I don’t like. They just played 2 weeks ago and Regina handled them. Regina will play the Winner of MFL/WB

IHSAA had little choice but to do that with Sumner being ranked #3 and not being a home team.

My above pods were dreamland. This is the one I truly had in mind the entire time for WB. Except I had WB and Wilton flipped.

Looking at the pods, C is the weakest. 2of the 3 weakest #1 teams. There is a chance district 3 has 1 team left after this next week's games. Could be 2 but likely just 1. Guess it may not be any better than any other district after all.

I believe that is correct. Because it didn't make sense that the team that got left out, WB, actually beat the state runner-up but didn't even make the playoffs. I think the IHSAA and everyone else knew they had to come up with a better plan going forward.
Trust me, it's correct
:)

Regina

I’ve said since Day 1 I think MFL is the team to beat in 1A. I also believe MFL would love to send WB home after last years loss. But I’m a WB guy and this team is battle tested. Going to take a great performance by WB Friday night!

Grundy Center.....Grundy did it once they'll do it again 42-14
DNH....DNH has had a tougher schedule and probably a better defense 28-17
Underwood....same as Grundy done it once will do it again 54-7
OABCIG....I think this is a great game maybe 1 td or less 28-21
Sumner Fred....Eburg hasn't had near the schedule SF has 35-14
Waterloo Columbus.....another close game 28-20
MFL..... a back and forth game 30-27
Regina....Wilton has their RB back so will be closer 28-14

Dike has played better competition but I have not seen a team that is more fundamentally sound than SK. By the end of the season every year they are putting it together.
I think South Hamilton is better than everyone is giving them credit for.
MFL will win by at least 2 scores. I would not be surprised if it was 17-21.
I agree with most of the rest of the breakdowns except I think PC will be a lot closer to GC than that. It will be easy for GC to look ahead since they already had an easy win earlier in the year.

Not sure where the info came from that Hassel didn't play in the first Regina vs Wilton game. He played the entire game.

You did. It was said on a podcast that he didn't play but again I'm not sure where they got their info because I was there and Hassel definitely played.

A few of these were really hard for me,
I picked DNH based on a stronger schedule, but it's tough to tell what that S-K offense can bring, they put up a lot of points.
Treynor - they both played Shenandoah to a similar result, Treynor had the tougher schedule to the extent that they played and got spanked by Underwood. Did they learn anything from that that makes them better facing OABCIG? Does it matter after this week?
As much as I'm the biggest Bears fan this week, I think MFL will take this at home.

In most people's opinion, would there not be a real underdog in half the games. Obviously there will be in every game to some extent but would there be 4 true underdogs in most peoples opinions?
PC
AHSTW
West Branch
Wilton

Do any of these teams have any chance?
