Whats your thoughts for this game? Class 1A powerhouse, West Branch, visits 2A #4 West Burlington-Notre Dame? Thoughts/ opinions on this showdown!?

Wish I could be there to watch it. Does anyone know if its on the internet? Or will there be radio coverage?
I think WBND live streams all of their home games. I will try to figure out the details and post them here.
After looking into WBND's team speed. I'll go with speed over tradition here. Can't hold them down. Too many weapons.
Granted they were all a year younger, but they had all that team speed (and maybe more last year with a couple fast kids who graduated) and how many points did that get them last year? Unfortunately football is not track and you have to block and tackle first before you can do anything else.

WBND is class 2A lead rushing team and 8th in state. I'm going with the speed and too many weapons.
I'm in the wait and see mode with West Burlington as well as Mepo. Ft. Madison and Keokuk were a combined 3-15 last year with 1 win over the other and over W. Burlington, not exactly world beaters. W. Burlington may be fast, but a team on good position can control speed easily. Plus they lost to W. Branch 45-0 last year though I don't know how much W. Branch lost.

Looks like West Branch returns some real good skill positions with a all-state type of RB and 2 effective WR's. They did loose a very good QB from last years team. I don't know how much of West Branch's line returns.

Looks like West Branch lost too much in the line. West Branch chance depends on dominating at the LOS and not giving that fast running back (Trowsil) an opening. Not sure that will happen now with loosing that many starters from last year. My prediction WBND 28 WB 21.
WBND line play looks better this year. Trousil runs downhill with speed and can break it anytime. I found highlights from both teams on maxpreps and WBND has edge in my book.
I'm also not sold on WBND yet. I've seen too many of their teams over the years have their skill players neutralized because of poor line play.
One thing that should not be discounted with the WBND program is the coaching staff. Last year they were brand new, new everything. By late in the year they had WBND competitive. Over the off season they have worked hard on changing the culture. Kids are in the weight room more. Kids have another year to learn the system. They have created a competitive atmosphere within the program. They have gained confidence through success in other sports. More kids are out for football. They are starting to believe they can compete with anyone in the state.
This is a huge factor for those wanting to simply compare last year to this year.

I think West Branch also is not proven anything yet. They have to replace 4 OLineman from last year. They already lost their best lineman this year. As to taking more than 1 year to rebuild. I know that is a cliche, but I don't buy that with high school athletics, especially if you just landed the best group of athletes in the state you can go from a average team to dominate in a hurry.
Orsky I just got to thinking about all those weapons mixed with a line with some size to it. Scoring 42 might be a stretch. Wouldn't completely shock me to score 35. Hope the internet streams well so I can watch it. If not hopefully someone on this site will post scores.

WBND got totally dominated up front. They had no luck running the ball up the middle all night. Broke 2-3 runs outside but almost anytime they tried the outside they ended up holding. The entire second half all those athletes were running sideline to sideline with nowhere to go. WBND had 2 separate 1st and goals from the 5 and ended up with 3 pts out of it. They just couldn't move it.
WB just looked much bigger at every position and had plenty of speed. In fact, their RB looked like the fastest kid on the field.

Was a damn fine game until 4th. Still can't figure out the bonehead call of Breuer on 4th and 23 yards inside your 20 and not punt. Game was not really out if reach at that time. The play sealed the game cuz they got sacked for 8 yard loss. Seemed like he gave up.
The Falcons had -10 yards in the 4th quarter, and only 72 in the second half.
Pretty sure this one play had zero bearing on the outcome. The Bears completely wore the Falcons out. Speed doesn't equate to conditioning.

WB had two long runs for scores that put them in front. Not domination at the line of scrimmage, just poor tackling by WBND. Last two scores were desperation and of course as stated earlier a poor decision to go for it on 4 and 23 from thier own 20 with over 3 minutes left in the game. A poor played game that could have gone either way.
