WCAC 2012

DMC drops 3rd straight game. This one to WCV. The look like the DMC of 2005-07 that could never win the big game. Ogden also drops a game. It is Van Meter's to lose and no chance they drop another game in my opinion.

Scores from 6/21

Van Meter 11, Earlham 0 (6 Innings)
Van Meter 7, Earlham 3
Coon Rapids-Bayard 3, Ogden 0
West Central Valley, Stuart 11, Des Moines Christian 7
Woodward-Granger 11, Madrid 4
Woodward-Granger 13, Madrid 5
Woodward Academy 6, Guthrie Center 3

What is going on with DMC? They are in a tailspin. Who Are You nailed it. Van Meter has the lead and I doubt they look back...

Van Meter still has to go up against Ogden and DMC one more time. If Ogden throws Josh Turner, they can win any game as long as his doesn't get too wild. DMC looks to have gone into a tailspin, but they seem to have this "rough" week every year.

I had heard that one of Ogden's 3 top pitchers broke his hand over the weekend. I beleive it was Church. Can anyone confirm? If so, that will put a heavy burdon on Adreon and Turner to carry the load.

Regardless of how the conference standings turn out I think Coach of the Year should still go to John Waddle of Coon Rapids-Bayard if they finish top 3. This year goes to show you the coaching he does year in and year out. Losing an All State Catcher All Conference pitcher two quality OF and replacing them with freshman and a 8th grader and still be in the hunt this late for a conference title.

Or how about give coach of the year to a guy who pretty much is starting all underclassmen at Van Meter, who are right now the front runners to win the conference.

This is a no-brainer....

I have always been a huge fan of Coach Waddle. He always does more with less then any coach in the state. Van Meter is loaded on talent, even if they are sophomores. If I had a vote it'd go to Waddle. He does things the with class, utmost respect for that guy.

BYES

Coon Rapids-Bayard plays the Winner of Glidden-Ralston/East Greene
Earlham plays the Winner of Nodaway Valley/ Orient Macksburg
Ogden plays the Winner of JS/Woodward-Academy
DMC plays the Winner of I-35/Central Decatur

In regards to the Coach of the Year question, why is Derek Flack from DMC not in the discussion? Whether DMC had a bad week or not, they are still in control of their own destiny in conference, all after they graduated 3 of their top 5 pitchers from a year ago.

I'll just go with saying that whatever coach wins the conference should get coach of the year as any of those three are deserving for it.

VM with only one conference game left is pretty big. They beat DMC they'll be in the club house watching with at least a tie in hand. I think GC is only 0-18 as they only play 18 conference games. With that being said did you count any weekend games between conference teams by accident?

Why would Guthrie only play 18 games when all the other teams play 20?

Van Meter actually has 3 conference games left to complete according to QuikStats.

They have to resume a game with Guthrie on 7/3 which was suspended on 6/15

Ok sorry, was used to a 10 team league and forgot their were 11 teams now Last couple of nights has shown that maybe VM isnt quite ready for the big one yet. A great group of talented and hungry kids, but maybe one year away from being 100% solid. I still think they will win the league and may even make the state tourney with he way their bracket shapes up, but with the way M st M handled them tonight I think they are a year away from being a title contender.

Some big games today. DMC travels to both CRB and WCV today to play a doubleheader at two different ball parks. That is a very tough task on a day where temps are suppose to be around 100. We all know CRB is a tough place to play and DMC has already lost to WCV earlier in the year. Could the game tomorrow against VM be meaningless for them?

However, if CRB beats DMC and then VM loses to DMC tomorrow we could have a tie between VM and CRB for the title. Should be interesting as always.

The CR-B game was at 4pm -- DMC won 9-3

DMC then beat WCV 9-5 to move to 16-3 in conference and a tie with VM for the lead
