This thread has been getting some views but no posts other than myself. What does everyone think about the start of the season? Surprises? WG over Coon last night was a big one to me. CRB is off to a 0-2 start in the conference with VM on deck tonight.

WG has a nice little win streak going. Ogden continues to roll with a one hitter against WCV last night.

Thoughts?

I appreciate your posts. Am a little surprised by CRB as well. Panorama is a better team than their record reflects. Looks like they have the tough part of their conf schedule early. Ogden pitching looks tough but not sure about their offence. A lot of new faces in the line up. VM got by Panorama in their conference opener on a walk off grand slam but are looking like they could dominate. We will see how they do against Coon. Can only assume that we will see a matchup of Reis & Brittain. DMC looks like they have a few new faces that are stepping up their game on the mound. This will make them tough throughout the confernece. Again...thanks for the score updates and your thoughts.

Not sure if any games were played last night. I know Earlham @ VM and DMC @ WCV were PPD. Haven't seen or heard anything on Woodward Granger @ Madrid, Guthrie Center @ Woodward Academy or Ogden @ Coon Rapids - Bayard

I don't get out to see the conference as much anymore, but it sounds like the usuals will be dogfighting at the top. Right now I think the teams to beat are Ogden and VM. I think Panorama could slip in behind them as well, in front of CRB and DMC.

Didn't think the VM/Ogden game would be such one sided. Didn't see that one coming.

Ogden pitcher was really wild. Hit 6 batters before coach took him out. Next guy plunked a VM batter as well.....7 in total. That along with 10 hits from VM and Brittain shut them down on the mound.

Coon Rapids-Bayard #10 in 1A

After last night's game you would think Ogden would get bumped out and Van Meter would move up. We shall see...

Let's get this thread going. What have you guys thought of the games this last week. I thought Van Meter laying it to Ogden was pretty surprising, definitely thought that Ogden's pitching would keep that game a lot closer than it was. Looks like DMC got off to a slow start, but got back on the bats halfway through the game against Van Meter on Thursday. Thoughts?

Pitching match-ups will be the key. The teams that can keep there starters healthy and rested will have the upper hand.

- Ogden has (2) pitchers that can shut down any offense. With only one conf loss, they are still in it.
- Van Meter's top pitchers threw earlier in the week before DMC game. Then both pitched in DMC game. Seemed odd, as they only had two and three days rest. Van Meter has a chance to play into post season if pitchers stay healthy.
- Coon Rapids is well coached with quality players left from last year’s team.
- DMC to date has gotten good starting pitching from several players. DMC has two tough games this week with Ogden and Coon Rapids.

A lot of games left to play. But I do not see conf winner having more than two losses.

DMC takes down Ogden in a pitching duel. Is the title DMC's?

I heard about the pitching duel that went on between DMC and Ogden. Also heard that Turner was gunned at 88-91 mph. Glenn must have pitched a heck of a game as Ogden has a pretty potent offensive lineup. I think right now, the conference is still up for grabs for at least 3 teams, maybe 4. Like Topps said, a lot depends on pitching match-ups right now.

Unless they slip up against a so-so team, I'm not sure they lose 2 conference games. This is who they have left...

I will say, although some teams have been inconsistent, the WCAC is a much more competitive baseball conference this season. Ogden, Van Meter, DMC, Coon Rapids, and maybe Earlham are all teams that can compete with each other every night, depending on who is pitching. In the past, it has been 2 or 3 teams at the most that have a chance at conference.

Very valid point. For example. Maybe DMC thinks they have it all wrapped up and they head into the last few games of their conf schedule and they throw their #4/5 guys and they end up getting beat. Could happen.

DMC's pitchers have been looking pretty good this year, according to QuikStats. And with as much offense as the bring to every game, I think they can play with anyone.
