I think they have a tough district. Hinton and western are the teams to beat for sure. Hinton is tough and well coached and western just gets better athletes than any school around.

also heard from an area coach the West Lyon boys haven't been working very hard this spring/summer. a lot of time until football season but expect West Lyon to have a down year.

District 1 will be one of the top districts in 1A without a doubt. There will be great competition week-in and week-out. Western Christian deserves to be the favorite because of what they showed last fall, but bottom to top D1 has some great teams.

We will see if your theory on West Lyon is accurate right out of the gate as West Lyon plays the toughest non district schedule in the district. Central Lyon- George Little Rock (2A) in week one and Boyden Hull-Rock Valley (2A) in week two. Western Christian also has a tough non district with Boyden Hull Rock Valley in week one and Akron Westfield in week two.

Football is coming fast, but still a lot of baseball season left. Looking forward to some playoff baseball!

Going back to the smaller playoff field will be leaving some good teams at home, the top 5 teams in this district return a bunch of talent. Western and Hinton however return the most off of really good teams, where as the other 3 had some struggles last year.

Not sure i would say Western and Hinton return the most talent from last year's teams. A quick look at the stats show.

Western Christian loses 13 seniors and 1510 yards of offense along with 4 of the top 6 in tackles from last season.

--Returning Kooima and Granstra is huge but big loses at WR and up front.

Hinton loses 12 seniors and 2978 yards of offense along with 2 of the top 6 in tackles from last season.

--Jay Small will be the guy. Nice guys to step up around him. Lost some solid lineman.

West Lyon loses 13 seniors and 497 yards of offense along with 3 of the top 6 in tackles from last season.

-- Return everyone in the backfield. Need young guys to step up on the line.


This district is going to be a great one. Alot of talented teams and a couple good teams are going to be left home.

This district is going to be a battle every week. We'll see how Western does coming in as the team to beat. I think they snuck up on some teams last year during the regular season. They'll have a target this year and will get everyone else's best shot. D1 is gonna be a lot of fun to watch.
