West Branch was in need of a boost to get out of the rut it found itself in after back-to-back conference losses last week.

It got that boost and then some from its leaders in the backcourt on Tuesday.

Guards Haley Mullinnix and Tatum Koenig combined for 60 points as West Branch put up a season-high point total in an 81-46 win over Tipton in a River Valley Conference matchup of Cedar County rivals in West Branch.

Mullinnix poured in a career-high 33 points, one shy of the single-game school record as West Branch snapped its two-game losing skid.

The senior guard added five rebounds and four assists as West Branch improved to 9-6 on the season and 7-6 in RVC play.

Tipton dropped to 3-10 on the season and 2-10 in RVC play.

Koenig had 27 points, five rebounds and four assists while freshman Mackenzie Heise had six points and six rebounds.
