Regina's two losses aren't looking quite as bad anymore as Xavier and Solon beat their 3A competition by a combined score of 90-0 this week.
Turns out the Regals gave Solon a better game than 3A #8 ranked Washington did.

Yeah, Regina is down compared to where they were in the past, but those losses are starting to look not so bad. I think Solon is just that good this year. I actually think Solon could give Dowling a run for their money this year.

I thought WDM Valley could give them a game too. That didn't pan out. Solon is very good. They are probably the most balanced they have ever been. Not sure they are as good as back in the James Morris days. However, they are very good. I'm not sure I would put them up their with Dowling though.

Which starting OL did Washington play without? From what I’m told, Reighard only played defense, but my buddy didn’t mention any linemen being out.

I'm not a Wilton guy, so no inside information. Just a fan of HS sports. I'm not sure about Wilton. Solid last year but not great. Quite a few key players back who are also wrestlers so I think that is a plus. They haven't played any real competition yet. I'll be anxious to see how the Regina Wilton game turns out. A lot of people questioning the Regals talent this year. If Wilton is as good as some think, this will be their best chance to defeat Regina it appears.

Changing the topic a bit here but I'd be interested to hear any predictions on the Bellevue/WB game. Should be the game of the week in 1A. I would go but it's way up in Bellevue this year. I think with the emergence of Lukavsky (sp?), I will give the nod to West Branch. WBBears and others any thoughts on how this game might go?

Lil Rose Bowl is a great venue for a game. Herb & Lous for pizza, Down Under for a cold one. Had some good conversations with Butch and Lance a couple of times

Keep an eye on the young Pella Christian team tonight against Mt. Ayr. They've been making some noise so far this season with all the weapons they have, as well as having a large offensive line.

I'm a Bellevue alum, follow from a distance. From who I've talked to, most people closer to the program still dont know what Bellevue has. The schedule up to this point has been awful, and that haven't been challenged at all. I saw the North Cedar game (left at the end of 3 quarters when it was 54-0) and they definitely looked the part, but there was no real way to tell because of how bad NC is. I guess we will find out in a hurry tonight, with the heat, could come down to better conditioned team.

But based on seeing Solon in person and how they've rolled through every team they've played so far, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the 2nd best team in the state.

Solon has certainly proven to be on a different level than the 3A field so far, and their defense is the best I’ve seen in 3A since I can remember. I think they have probably earned a right to be discussed as a top team in the state but the depth is what concerns me; I just looked at the BEDS count and they are one of the smallest 3A schools. I think Dowling would roll them with one-way players and quality backups to give starters a blow. Solon can’t do that with so many guys playing both offense and defense. Maybe it starts out as a good game, I think Solon’s coaching is second to none and that would help, but once the fatigue sets in it’d be all Dowling. Probably the same result with a couple different 4A schools and not just Dowling.
