Week 9 Scores

Mepo stuffs them on 4th and 1, they fumble and recovered 15 yards behind LOS and then unsportsmanlike on them after play. 1st and 10 on their 12.

28-10 DNH at the half. Big play was Regina going in to score to make it 17-14 Regals, but they fumble at the goal line. DNH with a big return, then punch it in to make it 21-10, DNH. Huge swing.

Final. DNH 42, Regina 10.

DNH dominates, grinds down the Regals. Turnovers took Regina out of the game, couple INT’s, couple fumbles. DNH is well rounded, on the ground and through the air. The defense is very strong as well.
They will be a tough match up for anyone they face in the playoffs.

Osage 30 A-P 20. Final

From the sounds of it it was a great game. AP scored to start the 2nd half to take a 4 point lead then hit osage with surprise onside kick. Nothing came of that drive and osage scored the final 14 points to win by 10. I wasnt at the game. Only listened to the 4th quarter on my drive home.

Wow I honestly thought SK would control things but heck of an effort by Mepo on the road. Sounds like an impressive effort. Congrats!

Also, congrats to West Lyon on dismantling WC. Three way tie for the title but will be interesting with that win if they possibly move ahead of WS in the RPI. Impressive performances in this huge week 9 games by some of these teams.

I also thought I35 with its defense and being at home would get it done but a lot of credit to PC. Those kids know how to step up in big games and proved it tonight. They’ll most likely be on the road on the first round as a district champ but will be tough.

West Lyon controlled the game from the start of the game. Western Christian couldn’t get their offense going. West Lyon was able to shut down Western’s playmakers.

Props to Mepo. They came to play tonight!! Best of luck to all! My 35 years as a high school football fan, player and parent is over!

It was a great game. AP had a ton of momentum as they were grinding out 3-6 yard runs all game and would've been in complete control if they were able to score after the surprise onside. Turning point in the game was a block in the back 9 yards behind the LOS on AP's drive after the onside. Went from a 3rd and 4 around Osage 40 yard line to a 2nd and 29. Had to punt and Osage scored right away and then got a stop. I'd have to see film to know if it was a bad call but it had absolutely no bearing on the play so hate to see that. Osage has some playmakers though. I'm curious to see how they do in the playoffs. They went 0-4 in non district but that was against three 9-0 teams and a 5-4 team

For what it's worth there should be a replay of the game up now on the 987 kiss country website. There always is for the st ansgar games they stream and they also stream the osage games.

Nice. Also, don't want this to come off as sour grapes, I think the better team won. Just was a huge momentum shifting penalty and felt like it should be noted

Didnt come off that way. I went to the St Ansgar game vs Central Springs. The officiating was sub par in that one. Just listend to the 4th qtr of the Osage game on the radio on the way home as I knew it was an important game. Good to have two schools from mitchell county make the playoffs.

Unfortunately it feels like Iowa high school officiating can now actually decide a game or drastically shift the momentum between teams. I have seen a bunch of film that's been very ugly the last couple years. Unfortunately, given a number of reasons including bleacher chair refs, folks just don't want to be refs anymore. Can't say I blame them.

It happens at all levels. In their defense, there is a lot going on and calls will be missed. It's when it happens repeatedly that there is an issue or on bad calls in big situations.

On a related note, aren't they implementing replay review for the playoff games now. I think I read that somewhere.
I forget which class it was but I recall a touchdown catch that was ruled incomplete last year that the replays showed was a catch clearly. Live it was hard to tell and I dont fault the official on this call as it was incredibly close to the sideline, but there was a perfect camera angle on this play that showed the catch. An angle the officials didnt have.

Who’s paying for that?

I would think, if it's used, it will only be in the semis and finals. There are already multiple cameras on these games. As you implied, it would be very hard and expensive to implement in the first 2 rounds.
