I understand we all like to bash Bosco for being Bosco. Nothing is going to change there but is everyone ignoring the fact that Des Moines Register #2 Fremont Mills went down last night at Exira-EHK? Anyone there to provide update? Thought I saw or heard an update on KMA that FM was up 20-0 in the 1st or 2nd quarter.

Okay, don bosco, we get it. You’re good at 8 man. It’s time to move on.
Never a supporter of the Don's watched them put 100 against my sons team, but they are following the rules and their beds is much smaller than a lot of the team in 8 player now. Yes there is some social economic stuff that I think comes into play that works in their benefit. But they are playing by the rules and have great participations numbers and their internal competition makes them better.

I haven't check their roster number this year but a lot of team that IMO have over 30 shouldn't be playing 8 player, Don't like it, then you try to get the rules changed, until then they are playing by the rules.

But if you start using roster numbers to eliminate 8 player teams, just like big schools will start saying you didn't make the team. Only 30 helmet etc.... I don't want to go down that road

I would like to see the teams with great numbers stay in A football, but they bring out player safety. They don't ever think about their opponents player safety.

Yes the MT score was a final. Sorry about that, I will try to remember to note that next time.

Is there a reason you think this? To me numbers are number no matter what type of school.

There are numerous academic, social & athletic advantages provided by private schools, or they wouldn't exist. My foremost argument is that they can grant or deny admission to anyone without regard to physical address or district borders based on whatever criteria they deem important. I'm not suggesting that private schools and prospective students use athletics as the overriding factor in enrollment decisions, but participation numbers in extra-curricular activities at these schools do indicate that it does count to some degree.

I would add that the private schools draw from a much larger population base than public schools can. They are not restricted by boundaries. When kids drive 20-30 miles, past several public schools, I think that creates a huge advantage for private schools.

I don't think we need to turn every thread into a public vs private debate. I'm not a fan of private schools at all, but the debate is tired. So onto football. There are four games in week 2 that intrigue me to further figure out how good teams are.

Montezuma @ HLV
New London @ Moravia
E/EHK @ Sydney
Audubon @ Fremont Mills

Monty has had a couple tough but close games early and Moravia is considered the favorite in their district. Sydney had a closer than expected game with Lenox, E/EHK knocked off Fremont Mills, and Audubon beat Remsen St Marys.

I like 3 of your picks:

*HLV has talent and speed but is unlucky playing in the south districts the last few years. Haven't had as much competition and I think it hurts. Montezuma has already plated a couple tough games. I'll take Montezuma.

New London surprised me dropping down this year and beating HLV in their 8man opener. It's alway fun to see how the teams that drop down adjust to 8man. Moravia could be in the top of their district but I believe they had some players quit. not sure where they'll be but definitely taking New London.

*Sydney struggled last week with Lenox. I think Lenox will be tough in their district but E/EHK looked good against Fremont Mills.I think E/EHK takes this game.

*Audubon and Fremont Mills. Don't know much about Audubon except that that beat a tough Remsen St. Marys last week. I think Fremont Mills is better than they played last week and should bounce back but I'm taking Audubon. I think this is the game of the week.

I think Fremont Mills will get Audubon, as I'm not sure how good Remsen St Mary's is this year, but I think E/EHK is legit. One game I didn't notice until now is that Gladbrook plays Turkey Valley. Think that could be a much closer game than BCmoore predicts. (G-R by 39).
