Might as well get this thread going. What are everyone's thoughts on this game? Gonna be a great one. 2 very physical teams.

I can't wait for this one. Neither team has had a challenge in district play and this is for all the marbles. It's gonna be fun.

Correct. MMC is the winner of District 1, having lost only to WBM. For what it's worth, Northwood Kensett was also a good challenge for WBM. Barring an upset of Don Bosco this week, N-K will be the #3 seed in District 3. Remsen Union, while not a close game for WBM, will also be a playoff team out of District 1, again a #3 seed. Newell-Fonda played Remsen St. Mary's and Kingsley Pierson in the non-district. RSM could become the 4th seed in District 1 if they beat HLP this week. K-P will not make the playoffs. Neither team has had a close game among teams in the district thus far.

And MMC was absolutely a challenge for WBM. That was a great game that was back and forth for a majority of it.

Wouldn't look too far into those first games. MMC was trying to replenish a plethora of players and I believe that Remsen Union was missing 5 or so 2-way starters. MMC was also right in that football game with WBM. RSM hung with Newell at the beginning of that game too. Teams mature a lot from the beginning to the end of the season. I wouldn't say that D2 is all mighty and D1 is weak. Big games this week in both districts. That being said, I wish I didn't have to work so I could swing by the game in Newell!

I meant no disrespect at all to MMC, and I am certainly not suggesting that D2 is by any means all mighty. After the top two teams, the district is not very good at all. While D1 likewise has a significant gap between the top 2 and the rest, I feel that the alsorans in D1 are probably better than the alsorans in D2. Neither district is the best in the state top to bottom, or even in the 1-4 seeds. D3 and D7 probably both have much better claims to that. My only point is that any matchup between undefeated top ten teams at the end of the season with huge playoff implications is one to get excited about :)

I think WBM has more options in this game with the Zinnel boys and Jergens, but NF has a beast in Bohe and an efficient qb in Podraza. It will be interesting to see how these defenses do. Both of these teams have been lighting up the scoreboard all year. I think Bohe may be too much in the end, I'll take NF 41-34

Johnny I agree for the most part. Both have very good offenses that havent seen a defense like the one they will see friday night. I had been skeptical of WBMs defense after watching them play against NEH but I watched them this past friday and they have improved greatly. They were physical up front and the LBs were downhill fast! Very impressed by them and how they had improved. NFs defense has been solid ever since the Remsen St Marys game. This is why I think it will be lower scoring then most would think. Johnny your predictions would be a little higher scoring then what I would predict. I would say in the range of upper 20s to mid 30s. I wont give my prediction because I have seen both play this season and think it is to close to call. I see it coming down to penalties and turnovers that will decide this game. This should be an exciting game to watch. I have been waiting all season for this game. District title on the line. Winner gets atleast 2 home games in the playoffs and wont have to travel to Marcus in the 2nd round.

Should be a good game, not sure NF defense can stop the balanced attack of wbm. To many a and b gap blitzes all year, not enough key reading. WBM has looked like a grown man playing with 1st graders all year in d1 and d2 play. NF hasnt been tested at all i see this one being a close one with the play makers of the purple people eaters making the differnce. Roll big white tonight!!

No one is talking about this game? Thought the game was much closer then the final score. WBM fumbled a couple times, 1 on the goal line as they were scoring. NF blocked a punt for a score right before half. If you would of told me before the game that Bohe would of only had 60 yds rushing and Podroza only had 2 completions and NF won. I would of said your crazy. WBMs defense looked to shut Bohe down and they did for the most part but they allowed Podroza to have a few big runs. WBMs offense couldnt run that ball at all on NFs defense put started to pass on them late, not sure why they didnt start doing it sooner. All in all it was a great game that came down to turnovers and special teams. Hope both can make it to the quarterfinals. That will be an exciting game with state on the line. This is turning into big rivalry game as much as they have meet the past few seasons!

From what I was told by those that were there WBM got outcoached. If that is the case, that's hard to correct. A coach either can do it or not. You can coach up players to correct mistakes. Can you coach up a coach? Heard it was a very good physical game. If these two meet again it could be a reverse score very easily. A fumble on the goal line and a blocked punt TD. That's 14 points(NF kicks I see on quickstats). Turnovers kill.

Both coaches are very good. As their records would account for that. Coach Kappy knows his football and am sure his one mistake that allowed NF to have a chance at blocking that punt will not happen again. That being said he isn't the one on the field fumbling the ball or not blocking and allowing that punt to get blocked.

I agree with your first post buck. From what I saw last friday it appears that wbm has a good passing game with zinnel and I'm not sure why they wouldn't take advantage of it. They should be atleast 50/50 pass/run from what I saw. A balanced offense is a good offense and opens up the run. That would allow the Jorgens kid a little space... But hey, I'm for the blue so more power to them for not using the pass like they should.

This was a great game that was played tough and was much closer than the final. However playmakers make big plays when the opportunites arise and that's what happened in this game. I may be a bit partial being the older brother of the NF QB but just like last year the championship game will be decided as the victor of district 1 vs 2. I give the edge to district 2 this year . The sleeper no one is mentioning is Adair Casey. MMC owned state last year and snuck out a victory in the championship d1 d2 game after being behind all game until the last 2minutes of the game vs NF. I see wbm backing up their win from earlier this year on Monday then a showdown in Newell for the championship. Good luck to everyone who made the playoffs but if you can make it next Friday see you in Newell for the championship game. GO STANGS and goodluck wolverines I'd like to see a rematch of last weeks game that was fun to watch as a fan and old player who knows the programs over several years.
