Unfair Public School scholarships

SD rb, but then went psycho and ended up at IWCC, plus the ones on their current roster. 7 easy

If educating you by using facts is considered whining. Yes. I’m whining. But you should probably stop posting...you’re making Dowling look pretty stupid. In the meantime...here’s your list of D1s you claim didnt exist last year.

Nank
Hummel
Zachary
Koerner
Ross
Waggoner
Mells

Not to mention Deskin and Atlias Bell.

Hell YOU could’ve coached that team to a championship.

Zachary is juco. Mells is d2. Koerner is a walk on. Last time I checked that isn't "d1"

You should stop spouting"facts" that people can check.

I am sorry Dowling took all the decent athletes from whatever school you support, leaving you with nothing.

You wanna let Jack and his fellow Hawkeye walk on safeties Sean Considine, Derek Pagel, Brett Greenwood, and Brandon Snyder know they aren’t D1?

I’ll give you Mells. Got him mixed up with Naba from Valley. My mistake. Zachary is D1 but his issues got him. I’m not giving you that one. Was Ingoli on that team? Not sure what’s going to happen with Riggs. Maybe not D1 but a great high school player and will definitely have opportunities to play on Saturdays.

Point is they have more talent then everyone. Regardless, you win. I’m gonna stop arguing with you now.

Actually I agree with you on the talent level last year. Koerner is a stud. Bell will go D1. I kind of misspoke on the 99%. Just get so tired of the cheating accusations, I tend to overreact.

I don’t think they cheat. They do recruit but like I said in a previous post, I don’t have any problem with it. There was a known cheater on the team last year but every school has kids that try roids. I think they did a good job of telling him to stop or no more playing. Good job on that one!!

Thats the entire point. They get to hand select the kids from ANY district they want, and are not forced to play only with kids in their district, like other schools. If any other school was allowed to take whatever kids from wherever, they would dominate as well.

Not living in the DM area, I have no idea at what lengths the Dowling FB staff go to in recruiting but even if they don't actively pursue kids with tuition "incentives", the fact remains there will be parents who want Jr. to play on a championship team (including Jr.), I get that. Hats off to the Dowling staff for constructing a little dynasty in Iowa. If they've done it in a morally acceptable way (it is a Catholic school after all, as should public schools) and their conscience is clean, then some 4A program in the state of IA needs to step up and knock them off. You heard it here first, perhaps a storied program from the east can get it done next year.

Here's the thing, where was this talk when Dowling hadn't been to a state title game between 2001 and 2010? Where was this talk when Valley was beating Dowling 7 years in a row? Are you saying that the demographics in the Waukee, West Des Moines, Johnston, or Ankeny school districts is any different from that at Dowling? And of course Dowling doesn't have a district where the kids come from, it's a parochial school. And it isn't something that just sprung up on opposing schools. And I'm sorry but when you win, you really don't need to recruit. Kids want to play at Dowling. Why wouldn't they?

Morally acceptable? What does that even mean?

Playing by the rules and looking out for the kids best interest (among other things)...not complicated really.

I'd say giving them a chance to feature in a 5-peat 4A title winning program gives them a better shot at getting to fulfill their dreams of playing at the college (whichever level of college that is) ball would be in their best interest. Especially since kids come to Dowling because they want to play for a winning program and it is their own personal interest to play for the Maroons. And playing by what rules? The fact that this country allows for private non-district schools? Again, it's not like something that just suddenly happened. People are just tired of Dowling winning.
