Tuesday Night:
Algona 57, Iowa Falls- Alden 56
Bondurant-Farrar 72, Gilbert 66
Central DeWitt 38, IC Liberty 36
Decorah 52, Crestwood 49
DM North 89, Urbandale 71
Dubuque Hempstead 70, Cedar Falls 69. Not an upset. These two could meet again in the 4A substate final.
Indianola 68, SE Polk 60. Indianola coming on strong at the end.
Marion 57, CCA 41
Mt. Pleasant 72, Pella 62. Really rough year for Pella, but they played MP fairly close.
Norwalk 89, ADM 65
Vinton- Shellsburg 69 CPU 62
Cedar Rapids Xavier 59, Dubuque Wahlert 50. These two teams came into the game not having lost to any 3A team. I'm sticking with my pick that Xavier will win their third straight 3A championship. They are absolutely superbly coached, have the best point guard in 3A (in my opinion) in Matt Mimms and play suffocating defense. Wahlert didn't get off an uncontested outside shot the entire night and that was the difference in the game, along with Xavier forcing Eagle passers into bad decisions.
Western Dubuque 58, Maquoketa 51
Dubuque Senior 70, CR Washington 57. If Senior defeats East Waterloo on Thursday night, they will be the champions of the 14- team Mississippi Valley Conference, ahead of Iowa City West and Cedar Falls, not bad for a young team that returns four starters next year. Three of Senior's losses were to Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL suburban teams.

Cedar Falls needs their role players to step up and help AJ Green.

And yet Sartorius from MP has outplayed Mimms in every matchup...Sartorius is averaging 28 over last 5 games and put 30 on Pella tonight...if they both make state and seeding is done correctly I look for MP vs Xavier in final.

Pella has gotten better as the season has progressed. they could give Osky a scare in substate as Osky is struggling with 2 losses in last 4 games.

Dubuque Sr is the team to beat in 4A

Weiskamp scored 32 more for Muscatine tonight in a 55 to 41 win over Assumption as they avenge the 22 point loss earlier in the year.

DJ Carton scores 21 for Bettendorf on 5 of 18 shooting in a 67 to 49 loss to Davenport North as North gets the sweep of Bettendorf for the first time since 1996. Lacey Watson, Max Taylor, and VJ Wilmington paced North scoring 20, 20, and 18 respectively. Watson scores 20 which is his highest output since joining the team. He's now scored 13+ points in 4 of the last 5 games. 77.8% shooting 3rd quarter and 3-3 3ptrs busted the game open for North.(Bobby Metcalf with credit)

North Scott rolls past Burlington 75-34

Pleasant Valley blew awat Davenport Central 60-45. Leading 32-14 at half. Brian Dayman built on his recent solid performances in wins over Fort Madison, Bettendorf, and Clinton. Central forced 9 turnovers and hit some 3's in the 4th quarter to make the score seem closer than it was.

After Clinton game Davenport West all it could handle the Falcons came out with a 45-35 win. Scoring is a problem for Clinton, but they can sometimes make up for it in athleticism and toughness. Tonight, they gave DW both of those things and nearly pulled off an upset.

AJ Green is good enough to carry his team to state and win some games. He has the game and the attitude to do it.

In regards to Sartorius from MP outplaying Mimms from Xavier - I believe it's a team game and Xavier has beaten MP every time they played them the last 7 years +. I'm pretty sure most players with Div 1 offers will take the win and back to back state titles over "being outplayed" every time. As I said before I am still surprised MP is #1 - weak schedule and lost head to head vs Xavier. I am skeptical MP makes it to Friday night at the well. That being said - we will see, thats why they play the games.

I see Osky, Norwalk, or Xavier getting it done in 3A.

Dubuque Senior is going to be a tough out for sure!

Pella has lost 6 straight after starting the year 10-5. They commit too many turnovers and don't shoot the ball particularly well. They did compete well against Osky in their second match-up, but Osky can play with minimal effort at times and expect to win on talent alone. Osky has the talent to win 3A, no doubt, but they'll have to commit to excellence on every possession to make that happen.

I agree they do commit too many turnovers, I was just making the observation since Osky seems to be struggling right now....IF Pella plays well they COULD put a scare into them if they are playing bad....again as busdriver17 said...That's why they play the games....I do believe 3A is pretty wide open and i think it will depend on the seeding and the matchups. You could have Glenwood and Norwalk as the #4 vs #5 game...I think the 6,7,8 seeds are not as talented as the top 5, assuming they all make it, but its tournament time and anything can happen.

...

I was commenting that Sartorius has outplayed Mims as an example that an argument could be made that Sartorius is the best PG in the state, but they both are top 2 IMO....Mims has a better supporting cast as Sartorius has had to carry MP every time they play Xavier. Joens is such a knock down shooter that he's hard to contain. And as far as weak schedule according to bcmoore MP has been in the top 3 all year which does take into account their schedule

I do believe in order for Cedar Falls to make some noise they have to have more from there other 4 players. Cedar Falls just lost another game last night to Hempstead who they could meet in substate final

I don't want to take anything away from Sartorius, who is a superb player.

Yes, I think Mims and Sartorius are the 2 best PG in 3A and Vaske and Bourne (sp) are right there also ...I would love for all of them to get to State so I can watch them along with the guards from Glenwood...

Sartorius has been on a tear lately but will need some help if they are to advance past 1st round assuming they make it to the Well.

With all the strong teams in 3A this year, I hope the state puts a lot of thought into balancing the brackets with the eight that get to the Well. Can't get ahead of ourselves, though, because there could be some head-scratching upsets in the districts and substate.

Wahlert should be seeded higher than Osky if they make it. They beat them head to head.
Seems like no one here cares much for what happens in the head to head matchups.

Green is hands down the best pg and college coaches agree. Sartorious is too short for the college game. He also has a punk attitude in the games I’ve seen him. He can strike it but will be a small college player like nearly all Iowa preps.

You have no idea what you are talking about ...you are one of those dumbass posters who doesn’t know shit about basketball...Green is the best pg but to call Sartorius a punk shows how ignorant you are...and I will defend the kid as I know him personally and for you to attack a kid in this post shows how
Immature and ****ing stupid you are ...and if I knew your true identify I would kick you living ass for saying such about any kid...and if you’ve seen Sartorius play them I assume you have a vendetta because he kicked your kids ass!

Interesting approach to address someone who said something you didn't agree with.

To attack a kid is inexcusable ...period! I know Sartorius and he is highly respected in his school and the community for being such a great kid and leader of his class...for this poster to call him a punk shows that he has a vendetta against Sartorius and MP....and the fact that he said all Iowa kids are small college players shows his ignorance for Iowa basketball...there is no place for someone to personally attack a HS kid. A post like this is exactly why people are leaving these message boards. They are sick and tired of idiotic post that personally attack kids and why I’m done after this season.

I said the few times I’ve watched, that was my takeaway. Acted like at those times, certainly didn’t say he was. For that, I certainly apologize. As far as Iowa prep guards, i stand firmly behind my statement.

I would venture that your scathing response is the type of response that makes people feel not welcome and choose to leave as well. Perhaps a more measured response would have worked as well.

Then so be it...it should be a scathing response!....There is no excuse for personally attacking a teenage kid and questioning his character..NONE

You are making stuff up now. I assume it is due to being close to the kid. I can appreciate that. As i said, I apologized for the comment. I didn’t say he was a punk...only that i thought he acted that way in a couple games I’ve seen. Most teens do that and I’m sure most of that comes from his competitiveness. Like i said over and over, guards in iowa do not project at the D1 level....save for a select few. 6 feet next to zero. Good luck to him at kirkwood. Prove me and the D1 coaches wrong

Are you gonna meet these people at the fight bar to settle your internet disputes?

That's where most other Iowans go, per HROT bylaws.

At least now you know that if you need to give somebody an ass whoopin', just take them to the fight bar. Plenty of weapons there to use at your leisure.

Do they have to go through Sans at the bridge first or is that when they survive the fight bar?

hahaha...I’ve calmed down a bit now but when an adult (supposedly) calls a kid a name attacking his character on a public post I get fired up...as the Oklahoma State coach once ...he’s a kid, attack the adults....

But yeah maybe a battle of beer pong to settle the dispute
