This week's recruiting updates: Keaton Van Soelen, Sam Cook, Jacob Mussehl,
Jacob Hardy, Eric Stoakes, Ko Kieft, Ian Malaby, Cole Gidel, Carter Milam, and
Thomas Meyer.


North Cedar wide receiver Ian Malaby

Camps
“I don’t know what I’ll be doing for camps yet.”

Visits
“I
just visited Eastern Michigan for a junior day.”

“I liked it. It was a pretty good experience. That was the first
place I’ve gone to besides Iowa State and it was nice.”

Recruiting

“South Dakota University sent me a letter to their junior day. Iowa State sends
me mail and North Dakota State has sent me a couple of letters.”

“I haven't planned any yet but I might go to North Dakota State.”


Nevada guard Cole Gidel

Recruiting
“There has not been a whole lot. I got a few letters from some
smaller schools. I also got one letter from Albany out in New York last year.”


Smaller schools
“We went to the Central team camp and NIACC and I talked
to a few of their coaches. Luther College sent me a letter of interest this
year.”

College visits
“I have not (made any). This year I was invited
to go to the Michigan camp this summer so I might go up there to take a visit as
well.”


Clayton Ridge lineman Thomas Meyer

Camps
“I want to go to Iowa, UNI, and Grand View. There is also a Midwest
kicking camp that I want to long snap at.”

Recruiting
“I actually have
gotten some letters from UNI and Simpson. I’ve gotten emails from Wake Forest,
Grand View, and too many Division III schools to cont.”

Visits
“There
have been a lot of Division III schools out of state that want me to visit.”


Muscatine lineman Jacob Mussehl

Camps
“I’m going to ND State, Iowa State, and Iowa.”

Recruiting

“I’ve had a couple of Division II and FCS schools as well. It has been James
Madison in Virginia, Southern Arkansas, and Grand View in Iowa I think.”

“Nope.”

A favorite college growing up
“I’ve always wanted to
run on the field at Kinnick.”


ADM defensive end Jacob Hardy

Camps
“I am planning on going to a few at Northwest Missouri State. I
might also be going to a combine in April.”

Recruiting
“I really
haven't had any interest but I’ve been looking to send recruiting DVDs to a few
colleges but I am not sure which one. Hopefully I can get that out soon.”


A favorite college growing up
“The school I root for has been Iowa.”


Sioux Center linebacker Ko Kieft

Camps
“I am going to USD, SDSU, and I might go to Iowa State, Iowa,
Augustana, and Northwestern in Orange City.”

Junior day invites
“I’ve
been invited to Augustana College, USD, SDSU, UNI, Northwestern, Dordt, and
Drake.”

Schools he has visited
“I visited Augustana so far and that
was a really good visit.”

Schools recruiting the hardest
“I would
probably say I’ve been in contact with the Augustana coaches a lot and the USD
coaches too. UNI has sent me a couple of letters. SDSU and NDSU have been there
as well.”


Gladbrook-Reinbeck running back Eric Stoakes

Recruiting
“I have gotten some things from Gustavus up in Minnesota for
track. I have gotten some emails from St. Joseph in Massachusetts. That has been
about it.”

Football camps
“I plan on attending a few. I think I might
try one at Iowa State and some other ones.”

A sporting preference
“I’m
leaning towards football. I enjoy it a little more than track but I do like
track.”


Fort Dodge running back Sam Cook

Recruiting
“I’ve been to a junior day at Iowa State and am planning visits
to Iowa and a junior day at UNI.”

“The trip was
awesome. We got to see a little bit of everything. We met with some of the
players and got to ask them questions. I enjoyed my time there.”

favorite
“For me, I am keeping my options open.”

College camps
“I’m
going to get to as many camps locally as I can. I am looking at going to UNI,
Iowa, and Iowa State.”


Des Moines Christian forward Keaton Van Soelen

Recruiting
“I have gotten a few letters from some Division II colleges
like Winona State and the University of Mary in South Dakota. There has also
been some interest from the University of Omaha, Dordt College, and a few
others.”

Visits
“A couple of months ago me and my family visited
Winona State and watched some of their game. We talked to the coaches after and
it went well for us. Hopefully there will be more after the AAU season.”


A favorite growing up
“I cheer for all of the Iowa schools. There is not just
one favorite because I am just a basketball fan.”


Pleasant Valley center Carter Milam

Recruiting
“Augustana has been contacting me a couple of times. I took a
visit to Upper Iowa earlier in the year. There have been some letters from
Luther.”

“It was nice and I like the camps. All
of the facilities were nice and so were the coaches.”

“Mostly it was just Illinois with Dee Brown when I was younger.”
