Teams to look out for in 2014?

3A Girls - Dav. Assumption will score 90+ points and run away with the title. . After that, Dubuque Wahlert, Mt Pleasant , and MOC Floyd Valley will fight it out for the other 2 trophies. Solon and Waverly - Shell Rock lost 40+ points each to graduation and don't appear to have enough scoring events.

1A Boys - Favorites: Lynnville-Sully
Contenders: West Lyon, Gladbrk-Reinbk, Mount Ayr(1A?) Manson NW(2A?)

LS- brings back speed to double-up points in individual events and sprint relay experience
WL- great football year, well-rounded team returning strong field events and runners
GR- great mid-distance group returning, should help them score points in distances 400-800
MA- possible move to 1A, strong runners returning 400m-1600m competed well in 2A
MNW- defending champs, experience returning, great coaching...possible move to 2A

There are several that I didn't mention who have great chances to score points, just my opinion. Who knows who will survive the fall/winter uninjured.

4-A Boys---Probably Waukee depth beating out Linn-Mar defending champs and high end point getters. Those two are the top returning teams by far. CR Kennedy has a lot of jumps points and hurdles coming back. IC West has quietly been first or second 5 of the last 7 years. Johnston had a lot of injuries last year but will bring back a lot of potential. Cedar Falls had a good finish the last few weeks of the season and are building again. The Gorilla in the room every year is WDM Valley, just depends on if they get the tide turned again. So many things can happen from year to year though and there will be a team or two that will come out of nowhere to surprise. The big schools can come up with bodies fast if they can get kids excited about track and field.

Class 2A Boys

Monticello wins by 30 points with no serious contenders
